downloaded my first game from GOG but can get it to launch. Seemed to download fine, integrity check fine, but cant launch it either by clicking on desktop or programs menu.
Am logged in as an administrator, am not getting any error messages, just no reaction at all. Think the spec on my laptop is fine so at a loss as to what could be wrong (warning, am not very techie).
After it passed the file integrity check, did the game install correctly?
Also, which OS do you use?

Yes, seemed to install fine, went through the full green bar.
System is XP. I've decided to uninstall and download again. Just got an external harddrive and cleared out my c drive, it was on the limit when downloaded first time. I'll see if that helps
Still no improvement.

Is your Windows fully updated? Try updating your graphic drivers.
Try turning off the antivirus software, if you have any. Try turning off some background services that you don't need.
See if that helps. I can't think of anything else. Strange problem. :/
I have the same problem here.
Drivers and Windows up to date and it still won't run.
I did once. But then it never worked again.
And the weird part. I didn't change anything in between...

I can't get mine to work either. The screen goes black and after a few seconds it kicks me back to the desktop. Same deal with the drivers and Windows XP.

I too am experiencing problems as the game crashes back to desktop after a brief black screen. However, I was able to get into the game after I disabled sounds from the setup but I've yet to figure out how to get the game to work with sounds (directsound) on, though.

I figured it might be an issue with (sound card's) hardware acceleration but disabling that from dxdiag didn't make a difference.
I solved it!

After installing ASIO sound drivers (http://www.asio4all.com/) and restarting windows, I could select a different sound output than directsound and it works!

Very cool! It DOES work! Thanks for this! So nice to be able to play the game after staring at that cool screensaver for so long.

Sorry to bump this thread, but I have the same problem. After a successful install (integrity check and whatnot) FlatOut is installed, but I can't even get to the configuration screen. Starting the game in any way doesn't do a thing. It just crashes instantaneously without any error or message.
And FYI, OS is Windows XP SP3.
Is there any chance I might get this to work? Tried everything I could think of.
Thanks

Try posting some detailed system specs--and submitting a ticket to support.
Thanks, that's exactly what I did. Support was really good and all, but couldn't come up with any working solutions so far even though I sent my full dxdiag. Maybe it's just my machine...

What did you try doing so far?

Installed the game in a folder outside Program Files?

Updated the video / audio drivers?

Updated DirectX?
