Okay, so this question isn't restricted to Fallout, but pretty much all dosbox games. However, it is most noticeable in fallout as mouse control is pretty necessary.

Anyway, I have a USB mouse (which might be the problem) and I'm finding that in Dosbox, when you pull the mouse in a straight line, the mouse cursor doesn't move in a straight line, but jumps right and left.

I've done some googling, but can't find an answer to this - is anyone else having the same problem, and if so, how did you fix it?

Note that it also happens on my laptop with a touchpad. There must be an ini tweak or something!

Thanks,

Fallout isn't a dosbox game. Haven't really heard of this happening to anyone before. At first I thought it was a mouse problem, but since it happens on your laptop as well, it is very baffling. Do you transfer data between your desktop and laptop? Could it be possible there is some sort of malware involved? I also doubt it has anything to do with Fallout itself or any specific dosbox game. Have you tried re-downloading Fallout and reinstalling? Maybe the game fails the integrity check? Do you have any mods installed? I have the USB mouse as well, and it works flawlessly with both Fallout games and Fallout Tactics.

Hmm - I did copy the installer across.

I'll try to redownload - shouldn't be any malware as I have recently scanned...

Still happens on the redownload - but it's not as bad as it is in dosbox. I'm wondering whether it's a driver issue.

Ooh - might have done it on my laptop - I turned off pointer precision in the control panel and Fallout is now near perfect. Dosbox games are improved but still not perfect.

I wonder if Doxbox has problems with higher DPI mice - my desktop has one of those Microsoft bluelight ones.

Desktop still has the same problem? Could be. I have Saitek gaming mouse (2100 DPI I think) and it works fine. Can you switch DPI settings on your mouse. I can lower it on mine, that's why I'm asking. What OS are you using? I'm not sure if Fallout has official support for Windows 8.1 if that's what you have?

I'm in Win 7 x64 Professional on the desktop and Home Premium x64 on the Laptop.

I'll need to look into the mouse DPI - the Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Centre doesn't seem to have particularly useful settings changes in it.
