I'm trying to do this by controlling the robot and it seems impossible. I pretty much just trial and error assigned it tasks to do, figuring out the order one at a time(figured if it comes back and i get the message about it not being able to execute it, i did something out of turn). I get all the way to the final order to install the part and then nothin. All i can get it to do is cause a meltdown, which i don't wanna do cuz i like the ghouls.

Please don't outright spoil it for me, i'd like to figure it out on my own. But can anyone at least let me know if this is even possible to do early in the game? I'm thinking there's a fair bit more i need to do or find out before i can fix the reactor. And i'm also thinking maybe the only way is to get some type of radiation proof armor like the powersuit from last game and then go into the reactor area and fix it myself, czu this robot stuff makes zero sense.

Should i give it a rest and come back to this quest at a far later date or is there something right under my nose i should keep looking for?

There are multiple ways to both fix the plant and sabotage it. The maintenance robot is just one of the options available.

Are you sure you transferred the part to the robot?

Think about the planets of our solar system, and read every report you can find about the status of the reactor so you don't do anything harmful.

If I remember correctly you don't really need to be high level when you deal with Gecko's reactor. You don't need to do that yourself, if you want to stay "clean".

Hmm maybe that's the issue. I don't see how i can transfer the part to the robot. I have the part in my inventory and the robot is in the reactor area, where i will die almost instantly if i venture into cuz of the radiation.

The option to give robot the part should appear when you try to initiate the repair sequence.

Yeah, that could be the problem. When you're prepping the robot you should get an option to insert the part into the computer panel so it gets transferred to the robot. If the part is still in your inventory, you're not going to be able to repair the reactor.
