Hey guys.
I have gotten to the point where i need to solve the gecko powerplant problem and the monsters around have become way stronger. So i run back to the den to complete some side mission but i still encounter large groups of enemies with machine guns who can deal alot of damage in burst mode.
I dont know how to best handle them.
My companions Vic, sully and the bartender dude from vault city get killed in the fights..
Try changing the behavior setting for your companions. Especially Sulik will get killed fast if he is set to meele if he has no good armor. Running away can be a solution too.

I suggest you run away until you get sufficient firepower/levels to take them on. Well unless you start the encounter in combat mode and have very low agility, then you're probably screwed.

Is it possible to change their behavior during combat, because normaly i have to talk with them and do it manually.
And if i change their behavior will they then attack if i do?
Lets say we encounter some golden geckos which they can handle.

Not during combat, only when speaking. Not through dialogue itself, but the combat options button.
Both Vic and Cassidy are IMO at their best when given high powered rifles (hunting, sniper or gauss), so they can just snipe away.
Jarmo's right, Vic and Cassidy do best with rifles. Sulik can use melee weapons, but he'll be much more useful with a 14mm pistol, or even better a .223 pistol.
