I want to pause the game like in Planescape Torment and the infinity engine games. I can't find the key to pause in real time combat mode. Does anyone know it?

Erm, real time combat means just that... real time. There's no pause.
you can press the pause key but than the game just paused and you can do nothing.
thats real time...

I remember there is a option for conver the game to something similar to the original Fallouts but had never used it..

Might be your keyboard doesn't have "pause" but Enter (start turn based mode) should work just as well.
I recommend turn based for the tougher fights btw, it's much more manageable.
I hate when people makes smart ass comments. He asked a legitimate question.

If that was for me, I was serious. The key to pause is the "pause" key, but it's one of the extended keys that's often left out, like "scroll lock" or "end".

All questions are legitimate, but asking how to pause in real time is like asking how to make your car move with the handbrake on: it's just not done. No 'smart ass' comments were made. Those two responses were two statements of fact. If the way they were stated offends your sensibilities, then that's your problem.

There are many "real time" games which allow one to give orders or change settings while paused. This includes most of the older RTS games...maybe all, depending on what "older" means. You may have your own, oh-so-pure definition of "real time", but don't assume it's the same one everyone else uses, or should use.

And the icing on the smarty-pants cake, Hickory, is that your answer was wrong. There is a pause in FOT continuous mode (though it doesn't allow giving orders, as Schnuff pointed out).

You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about, and it wasn't even a credible try. The question asked was quite specific: "I want to pause the game like in Planescape Torment and the infinity engine games". My answer was correct, whether you recognise that fact or not. There is NO pause in FAT like there is in ANY of the Infinity Engine games. Please don't make a bigger fool of yourself than you already have.

your answer is wrong, this is the fact. you imply that there is no way to pause the game. i know you think you live in a parallel universe where you're always right, but it's time to wake up.

Some people just don't know how to read, do they? Take your bigoted response and place it where it belongs.

I recognize what the OP asked.
"There's no pause" - what you said - is incorrect.
There's no pause like that - paraphrasing Schnuff - is correct.
Real time means no pausing - paraphrasing your second post - is incorrect.

You're contributing nothing positive to the question here, but then, neither am I ... I'm just arguing for a little humility and grace toward questioners, with someone uninterested in even writing clearly and accurately, let alone nicely. I propose we both go smugly to our corners, secure in the knowledge we are always right.
