Hello, for a while now the menus will rarely have a fading effect on menus but most of the time it will just skip right to the menu without having the fading effect. It's not a huge problem but I would like to know if there is a fix to this.

I don't have any significant fading effect either, but have also never noticed there should have been one. For what it's worth, I'm using the Fallout 2 Restoration Project mod, which includes Sfall (including its own global shaders). Maybe it alters the original display of the menus.

I should try that out thanks. Although will I have to start a new game?

Yes, if you've played a modded version, you'll have to start a new game. Savegames from the Restoration Project aren't compatible with the vanilla version and vice versa. I'm not sure it's worth it, just for the fading effect.
Think I finally figured this out.

Assuming you're using both the high resolution patch and sfall, make sure you have the following under the MAIN section in f2_res.ini:

GRAPHICS_MODE=2
SCR_WIDTH=1280 ; insert screen width here
SCR_HEIGHT=720 ; insert screen heighthere

Then ddraw.ini should have this under the Graphics section:

Mode=0
GraphicsWidth=0
GraphicsHeight=0

I'm on Windows 10 64-bit if it matters.

YMMV
Ya thanks for the help, however this problem has been fixed when Bethesda include the HD patch with fallout 2 and I completly forgot about this thread, but I appreciate you going out of your way to try and help :)

No problem. I had this issue OOTB with the latest GOG installer actually, so maybe this will help someone else.
