I kept getting something saying Fallout is running in compatibility mode and it just crashed, any way to get this working on Vista?

Right click the Fallout shortcut, click the compatibility tab and uncheck anything that have a check on it.

Yeah, and also check the "show settings for all users" and uncheck those as well.
For me, it was "run in 256 colors that crashed the game (with restoration installed).
