So when I meet the Skulz and chat to one, they attack me. I kill them in self defence. Then, even if I don't have a weapon in my hand, the Junktown Guards will proceed to attack me.

I've seen a mention of getting to attack the Sculz as a quest from the bartender but he doesn'toffer that to me.

All the "good" stuff with this gang comes from Neal, the bartender, kill the gangster who attacks the waitress.

Did this already happen?

Most of the time there are several ways how things can be done in Fallout. If you want to get the best out of it you can refer to [url=http://user.tninet.se/~jyg699a/fallout.html#junk]The Nearly Ultimate Fallout Guide[/url]. It can be very helpful at certain points, especially as it mentions a lot of glitches. Anyway, be careful not to spoil the game by reading to much.

Getting into a fight by chatting to them without any quest yet given is not the best option ;-)
