Just downloaded Fallout 1, and my character walks extremely slowly - is this normal?

Ummm.. Never mind. I figured it out. Sorry...
Joe
I don't know what exactly you figured out, so I'll just answer, anyway :D
The default speed is "walk", which is pretty slow. You can run by holding down the Shift key. But you can also change the default speed to "run" in the options, which will make you walk only using Shift.
I deleted the ddraw.dll file. It's very smooth now. But I WAS wondering about running - thanks.

you know, I've turned on run, but really I think it should be assigned to a hotkey instead. there are times where running is appropriate and times when walking is appropriate, I had such a difficult time sneaking because I didn't realise I had to turn "always run" off.
god that's so lame "always run" how about "always look like a farkin' dumb smegger"

Oh, you were actually having a technical problem, I didn't get that :) Well, nice to see it's solved.

I'm not sure if it's exactly what you mean, but I would have also appreciated being able to toggle the walking speed with the press of a button, preferably directly in the interface, rather than having to keep a keyboard button pressed or even having to change it in the settings. That's because Fallout can be played so nicely with only the mouse, as all the functions you need are either mapped to the mouse buttons or can be accessed from the interface. But walking speed? Nope.

Press "shift".
I allow myself to check hrhomer answer as a solution
