I had a random encounter with some slavers, fought for a bit, and near the end of the fight, the game crashed as soon as I ended my turn.
So I load on old save and have another random encounter with some highway men. Same thing, I fight for awhile, then all of a sudden the game crashes as soon as I end my turn. Now, I saved whenever it was my turn. So I went back to the turn that caused my game to crash and no matter what I did (moving, fighting, just clicking end turn) the game always crashed. I went back to a save BEFORE that turn and was able to finish the fight just fine.
Is this a known bug or something? I'm using the GoG version of Fallout 2 with Killap's Unofficial .
I found the same issue in Fallout 1 - you just have to be wary of saving during battles.
Meh, sounds pretty random to me... :) Good thing you have a habit of saving often. ;)

This happened with me as well - saved during a battle, reloaded, then the game crashed as soon as I did something. No matter what it was.

Grrrr.
Never had this kind of problem. Are you guys playing with or without mods? That could be an issue. Mods were supposed to fix bugs.

^ This.

It's pretty well known that saving in battles is an issue in both Fallout games. Personally I've rarely had the game crash at all, but then I hardly ever save during battles (and always in a totally separate save slot).

Killap's unofficial patch actually reduces the number of total crashes (or points where the game could crash), but it might still introduce a couple of new crash points (as with any mod).
