Bought fallout 2 some weeks ago with a bunch of other games.

Installed it, ran it from the installatiin screen, everything went well.
Got bored after half an hour and exitet.

Weeks later wenn trying it again I got the abovementioned Error-message.

hmm

uninstalled an deleted the game, installed it anew - everything fine, it startet well out of the installation process, but when exitet it would not let me start again...
By now I did this three times - the first run of the game is not a problem, when coming out of the installation process by "exit an play game" it runs fine, later nothing.

On a Windows 7 desktop...

Is the Problem known and solved somewhere?

Thanks

Check your shortcut for launching the game. Mine is:

"<FULL INSTALLATION PATH>\Fallout 2\GOGLauncher.exe" GOGFALLOUT2
- Don't install the game in the Program Files folder, but in a custom one (e.g. \GOG-Games)
- Try using Killap's Restauration Project Mod or just his Unofficial Patch (without the extra content)
- Don't start Fallout with GOG's link, but with the FALLOUT2.EXE file in your Fallout 2 directory.

Thanks guys!

Starting the game directly from the .exe worked, alsthough there are horrendous colourshifts in the videos and texts...
*shrug*
well, its playable.

Windows 7, huh?
On your desktop, right-click and select Screen Resolution. Select Advanced Settings.
Leave these windows open.
Launch Fallout (2) until the corrupted colors are corrected.

I was amazed when this remedy worked for me.

:)

Jep, Win7 it is.

Just open and leave windows open, not activating anything?

I did that für half an hour just now, but it has not worked so far *snif*

But as I said before - it is just the Vids and the ingame numercounters in the charsheet and the barterscreen.
Not too bad.

Thanx!

Yep, I *had* that corrupted color errors, too, in the same areas of the game. Not anymore.
Just leave those two Windows open and launch Fallout (or 2 if you have that installed).
If the colors don't correct after so many attempts, restart and try again.

Problem solved.
