Paradox released some Beta patches that cannot simply be downloaded without a special logon code (which I lost when I first bought the game, thinking it was simply to play multiplayer which I never do). Those patches which make the game more playable were not released publicly . So any idea to what version the GOG version (of Rome:Vae Victis) is patched to?
See if you can find a install log txt file inside the folder where the game exe is. Scroll all the way to the bottom
of the txt file and you will se a version number.

If the log is not there try to look in your Dokuments folder under Paradox.

Thanks for the response, but the issue is I want to know what the GOG version is BEFORE I purchase it!

I don't know the game, but having purchased the bundle, I installed it to try to find your answer. The main screen show a vague " ver2. " (I made a screenshot). But I found in the game installation folder a "ReadMe.txt" which talk about a version 2.32c (I made a screenshot too, I think this one should help you a lot more).

Hope this will help you ! :)

Ok, now I understand why the mod (I described in my thread) doesn't work... there is a beta patch v. 2.36b vor Vae Victis out, but how can we acquire it? As two of the seemingly greatest mods (Reign of the Ancients and Epigony mod) need this beta patch, I think that's no minor problem... the beta-Patch should be accessible in the "present"-section of the GOG-download imho.

That's not "that" easy unfortunately. I made some research thanks to your thread and the only useful thing I found all around the web was this quote "2.3.2 is the last official patch, and 2.3.6c has been in 'beta' for quite some time and is generally thought to be a required update - you get that from the Paradox Rome Tech Support forum.".
So it appears this is a similar situation as the one I encountered with Hearts of Iron 2.
All of this is totally normal : GOG provides the latest official patch. May be we could ask if they could try something to help people interested to have these beta semi-official patchs (like HoI2, it seems that it's not fan-made patchs but patchs made by the development teams).

That's exactly what I mean: The patch should be a seperate download here on GOG.
The guys at paradox don't seem to be working on the thing anymore - I can't understand why they don't just release it. As many mods build on that 2.36-version, it can't be that unstable anymore.
So please, dear GOG-staff, it would be great if you could find a solution here. :)
For anyone interested; here is the latest beta patch for EU:Rome: 2.36c

The tech support forum at Paradox for this title has been down for a while so I thought I should
help out a little.

This one requires the 2.32 official patch, which I believe GOG have already applied.

Thank You. It would be nice if the administrators at GOG, if any of them are reading this, got this available too!!!!

I understand well, but I don't know at all if they are able to provide it even in bonus, due to the fact it's not an official update. Has anybody contacted GOG's support to talk them about this ?

This is too bad. I've had always missed out on EU Rome and finally wanted to get the game with the latest patches on GOG. Now reading that it isn't all that complete and that I can't play certain mods (Reign of the Ancients really IS a reason to buy this game). GOG, please add the latest patches.

Unfortunately the download link posted here doesn't seem to work anymore, it always throws me onto the home section of the page.

Would anyone be so kind and post it again?
Not that difficult, guys:

Hey guys,

We're looking into the possibility of adding the patch BUT there's no guarantee or ETA as to if and when it will happen :)

Wow, thanks that's great ! :D
Can you take a look at the patch 1.3b for Hearts of Iron 2 too ? It seems to be a similar situation.
