Thanks. When I posted my links earlier this morning, they went straight to the PDF. I'm not sure how/what changed.

You need an active account to download manuals, so even if you register you cant download manual, before you posted in the forum, and not just 1 or 2 post, but more
i take it a copy of the spellbook for Elvira 1 is at least included as that was the games copy protection? Great to finally have this game on gog though. used to love it as a kid.

Both games currently on GOG come with a manual.pdf -- which you can access, after installing the game, from the folder where each game was installed.

For the first game this manual.pdf opens a scanned document titled "Instructions" and content-wise corresponds (but is not completely identical) to the "Horror Guide" from the above linked material by macrodeath.
The spellbook is not included. However, the manual does not mention the "enclosed magic lens (red acetate strip" used to read the spells. Edit: I am unsure why GOG does not include the spellbook.

For the second game, manual.pdf opens a document subtitled "Documentation for IBM PC and Amiga", which appears to be identical to the "elvira2-manual.pdf" linked above by macrodeath.

The spellbook is not included. However, the manual does not mention the "enclosed magic lens (red acetate strip" used to read the spells. So probably this version of the game, which is now on GOG, skips that copy protection entirely.

the manual linked does have a readable copy of the spell book at the back. its bad if gog doesn't include that thoufgh as its virtually impossible to guess the spells without it, making the game impossible.

I see. Then GOG should include it with the game. I don't see it in the installed game folder.

Edit: I've opened a technical support ticket for the missing booklet, providing info from (and linking to) this thread.
I am unsure if "technical support" was the correct category, but I couldn't find a more appropriate one for reporting this issue.

I've also already contacted the GOG staff concerning the missing spell list and they told me they're looking into it.
nemmelheim de slash horrorsoft slash elvira slash files slash spellbook slash Spellbook htm

Forum refuses to let me upload a pdf, jpg, or link to get them. Have the original Horrosoft Pack manual too with a lot of color pictures.

Although you will need a red glasses... and the manual included in GOG is the C64 manual. I prefer the manual on this page

Damn, here I was wondering how mixing spells worked, instead it's just a silly copy-protection system tied to a manual, thanks for sharing!

https://www.mocagh.org/miscgame/elvirahorror-manual.pdf

just use this for the spells, no glasses or logins required. its the same one included with the physical copy i got from the adventure soft online store back in the day,
I just noticed that GOG updated the offline files for the first game now includes the manual "elvira_mistress_of_the_dark_manual" and the spell recipes in "emeldas_spelles_and_receipts.zip"
