So, Elex is a grand game. Full of fresh and great ideas that seem to be partially obscured by the things that need fixing. Things that most definitely need fixing asap.

1. Keyboard controls are wonky at best. This needs ironed out immediately to prevent player frustration and refunding of game.

2. Textures don't scale properly or even are made to match resolutions. Playing on a 21:9 monitor equals some really ugly textures on armor and weapons and set design elements. This is immersion breaking all the time. The game needs proper 2k and 4k textures applied or made available.

3. Map quest markers can get bugged frequently. Needs fixed asap.

4. Quests (especially end quests) can get bugged and fail to fire. Needs fixed asap.

5. Dodging while in combat. This is pitiful at times. This applies to keyboard controls as well. Wonky at best most of the time.

6. Lip synching. I don't expect a multi-million dollar studio's efforts for lip synching in a lower budget game. However, some of the scenes the lip synching is pretty horrible. Fixed if it can be.

7. PROPER HUD elements and menus scaled properly in a 21:9 resolutions. They appear stretched and oddly placed at times. Fixed if can be. Shouldn't be hard since the game does support Hor+ and supports the 21:9 resolutions.

8. Windows 10 Fall Update seems to have maybe broken the game on some systems. Compliance patch if possible for these people. and others.

9. Random loot. We need more loot. The Gothic games, the Risen games all had sporadic hand crafted loot available at most times. Elex seems to be lacking in this department. MORE LOOT.

10. Improve the crafting system. As is, it's kind of bad. Not horrible, not great, just mediocre at best.

11. Artifacting at times. Not sure what's causing this but there have been purple clouds to weird sky textures happening every once in awhile. Also, heat shimmer or enviroment shimmer causes cut scenes to behave oddly if the player character is too close to an NPC while having one. Causes bugs. Fixed asap.

12. Combat difficulty at times. While I'm not one to complain about difficult combat whatsoever, the combat, at times, in Elex is downright unfair sometimes. This needs balanced asap. Also, aggro range should be lessened with some mobs. Seems to be too unfair in their ability to "see" you when they shouldn't be allowed or even possible.

Feel free to add to this list if you've experienced something awry in your game.

My specs:
Asus Sabertooth 990FX R3.0
Win 10
EVGA GTX 1080 Hybrid
16GB Gskill Ripjaw
AMD 8350 BE
LG UWHD 36" @ 3440x1440
Logitech G510 keyboard
Logitech G502 Mouse
Logitech Z906 surround system
You from Pennsylvania?

"Needs fixed"

My instructor used to say that, and she was from Pennsylvania.

Also, there was an update that just took place just about 2 minutes ago, to version 1.1 I haven't found any patch notes yet though

I haven't noticed any problems with this, what do you mean?
avatar
naomha: 4. Quests (especially end quests) can get bugged and fail to fire. Needs fixed asap.
Which quests? I haven't noticed this. (Though I HAVE noticed that rarely conversation trees don't properly send you to the next segment after you make a choice. The only example I can think of is Lighthouse Jack in Tavar.)
avatar
naomha: 5. Dodging while in combat. This is pitiful at times. This applies to keyboard controls as well. Wonky at best most of the time.
Do you mean dodging doesn't activate properly?

I've had a constant problem where my character suddenly rolls without me having prompted him to do so.

I absolutely have not noticed this for a single NPC.

TOTALLY. I also liked that some enemies (wildlife) respawned in Gothic 3.

EDIT: Found out that preplaced corpses (human corpses that are just item containers, which were never actually living NPCs) seem to have randomized loot.
EDIT2: Humans give randomized loot, but what loot it ends up being becomes fixed upon their death.

I haven't encountered this one.

naomha: 12. Combat difficulty at times. While I'm not one to complain about difficult combat whatsoever, the combat, at times, in Elex is downright unfair sometimes. This needs balanced asap.
What specifically do you mean when you say it's unfair? Do enemies hit too hard? They're too fast? You run out of stamina too fast?

Personally I've been bothered by how all the bird-type enemies (Biter, Scavenger, Screamer, etc.) can just ignore your attacks and retaliate a lot (maybe I just haven't figured out the trick).
avatar
naomha: Also, aggro range should be lessened with some mobs. Seems to be too unfair in their ability to "see" you when they shouldn't be allowed or even possible.
AFAIK All mobs have the same aggro range: half the radius of your radar (if you aren't in combat mode, which shrinks your radar to half distance).

If you can make your way to a place called the Small Farm, directly South of the Domed City, there's a chest there with some loot that will solve this problem completely. (Assuming that loot is indeed predetermined)

I'll add some:

13. Remove unskippable cutscenes. This is pathetic in this day and age, everyone knows people hate unskippable cutscenes. The startup company logo cutscenes and the opening cutscene to game should be skippable. (Other cutscenes function just fine!)

14. Remove the textbox barrage from the first enemy encounter. That gave me flashbacks to Gothic 3's opening. *shudder* It cuts into combat and breaks the flow of things which the player needs to experience firsthand.

15. Change the appearance of the "Climb Here" prompts. They look totally like "Grab this Item" prompts.

16. Eyebrows look weird.

17. Why do the gateguards not have dialogue for you approaching them from behind? THE JETPACK IS A PRIMARY FEATURE OF THIS GAME!

18. NPCs constantly bugging you about sneaking when they actually can't see you. (I know they can't since they aren't mentioning that I'm in a restricted area)

19. Let us add more than one marker to the map- let us add notes to the map! This would be SO nice. I could say "Troll Here" or "Mine Here Later". It's totally doable and it would make sense in the context of the game (convenient technology).

20. Add a way to be able to switch from a ranged weapon to a sword-and-shield instantly.

21. Sprinting has an obnoxiously slow startup time.

22. Let us hotkey armor. I want to quick-switch between the different Sunglasses I have!

23. Let us cancel sitting down- also make it faster. I often accidentally click a chair when I'm trying to loot and then I'm stuck unable to do anything for 5 seconds.

24. (Probably not something I can ask for from a PB game, but...) Award XP just for having dealt a sufficient amount of damage to an enemy! (at least 25%, maybe 50%+). The xp-on-killing blow mechanic is awful and went out of popularity over a decade ago.

25. Jax should be able to hit an enemy if they're right next to him, even if they're slightly elevated or deelevated.

In my opinion, we don't need to sit down everywhere ... It's cool to have this animation but ... hey we have to save the world ... not sitting around ^^
And plz no more in-combat "Oh hey I wanna talk with you NOW"
Fuckd me up some times...

19. Let us add more than one marker to the map- let us add notes to the map! This would be SO nice. I could say "Troll Here" or "Mine Here Later". It's totally doable and it would make sense in the context of the game (convenient technology).
That would be so helpful. Like "here is a chest I coudn't unlock when I first found it and will never be able to find again later."
I agree about textures, in some places textures look more blurred and out of place.

And about sitting, it will be good to eat or drink while sitting near campfire! :D
Some textures look really pixelated on certain places I find that very odd becuase same texture types, I mean exactly same textures are on HD variants on other places.

Example i saw a really pixelated tree and other trees that are of the same type have a more HD version.

Idk if they lowered the resolution of certain textures just to make the game more "Optimized" but thats a bad thing to do. Hope they fix it for PC attleast... or ... Mods... nexus save us

1. When I stop pressing the W key, or whatever, my character should CEASE movement. He doesn't. He likes to run off cliffs, run into walls, etc.
3. Quest markers are too close to some other markers and you can't highlight them properly. Other times the quest markers are not able to be centered on for some reason.
4. Some end quest dialogue moving to the next part gets bugged.
5. Same problem as you. I'll also jump when I'm trying to dodge and that usually finds me facing the wrong way momentarily.
6. Can't miss the bad lip synching. Ever.
10. Crafting system could be like Gothic 3 or even Risen 3. Personally, I like what Skyrim does and has you crafting depending on what crafting station you're at. I like that.
12. Not enough stamina for sure in early game. Also, most upgrades don't fire off until you've got at least a 20 in something. Early game scenarios don't allow you access to low level upgrades that could help you in battle. Same problem as you as well. Some mobs won't recognize hits and double hit or triple hit you and give you a momentary stun. Fking hate that.

Totally agree with your added posts. More map markers would be PREMIUM. Cancelling a "sit" action would be really nice and FIX THE EYEBROWS. Wow , are they weird.

One of the things I've really noticed is how bad fur looks in this game. In your early game you come across the barbarian dude that is wearing a bunch of fur. However, it looks like a plastic chew toy attached to his gear. It's kind of hilarious because that's what I think it looks like. It also has no separate movement of its own. As in, there's no Nvidia tech running the fur to showcase it's "fur".Even just making it look semi-realistic would go a long way. As is, plastic chew toy incoming.

Also, some armors looks like they're completely textured in something like a 480x600 texture size. It's crazy how bad some of the stuff looks. I'm a little bit of a graphics whore and I like my games to look as good as possible. However, you look at some of the stuff and wonder what on earth the devs were doing. Risen 3 looked phenomenal compared to this game. Heck, so did Gothic 3 for that matter. At least the textures matched the resolution at the time.

Ahh! I hate that one. Yeah movement is very loose and I often feel like I'm stumbling around when I'm trying to move precisely.

naomha: 3. Quest markers are too close to some other markers and you can't highlight them properly. Other times the quest markers are not able to be centered on for some reason.
Ah, I've encountered that, where I can't properly mouse-over a marker because they're in too close proximity. Very annoying.

Okay. I don't have strong feelings about this crafting system...

Except that upgrading the Hatchet seems to be bugged. EVERY other weapon only needs the Modify Weapons skill, but upgrading the Hatchet from Hatchet I to Hatchet II requires 10 Crafting! I can't find any reasonable justification for only the Hatchet having such a high requirement.

UPDATE: It's definitely a bug. I've experimented (with much reloading) by upgrading many, many weapons and Hatchet I -> Hatchet II is the only instance of a Crafting requirement I've seen.
avatar
naomha: 12. Not enough stamina for sure in early game.
Yeah, getting used to the stamina took me a while- you really have to disengage from enemies after every exchange.
avatar
naomha: Also, most upgrades don't fire off until you've got at least a 20 in something. Early game scenarios don't allow you access to low level upgrades that could help you in battle.
If I follow you- yeah, you get stronger very slowly (even compared to many other PB games) in this. I don't think you can do anything about being a total weakling for the first batch of levels.
avatar
naomha: Same problem as you as well. Some mobs won't recognize hits and double hit or triple hit you and give you a momentary stun. Fking hate that.
Hate those birds. Dx

Haha, I think you're a bit stricter about the armor appearance than I am. I don't think I've had any issue with how armor looks (except for the Alb armor Jax wears in the opening cutscene which has this ugly rusty color in some parts).

EDIT:

26. Sometimes when I often my Adjutor something is actually in the way of the menu! Often it's my glasses, sometimes it's something else.

27. Merchant transactions need more categories. The normal inventory has lots of categories, why don't merchant transactions?

Let me guess . The OP played heavily modded Skyrim at least for 150 hours and then he bought ELEX .

I have nearly 1k hours on Skyrim and modded like hell, it is more like a platform for mods than a game :)

Nothing in the game needs immediate fixing (1.1 GOG version).

My experience...
The good:
1. no crashes whatsoever and I run reshade on top of the game for personal taste.
2. my little drone (C.R.O.N.Y. U4) is brilliant, he has some occational stun attack and provides light in the dark, can fly anywhere I go, takes quite a beating now and then without being overpowered. Followers have interesting side quests or loyalty missions that are not "I had this problem in the past, kill this or that". Arx has a very interesting one, as he is my only real follower next to C.R.O.N.Y. U4, whom I had to fix up.
3. brilliant voice over for the main character (German), all other characters also sound believable.
4. it stays true to the mechanics and there are no magic walls. I often could distract guards and then enter the collector.
5. no boring tunnel questline. I still didn't find a faction and then wanted to join the clerics who send me away, the separatists didn't want me either, I did not find a way to join the outlaws, only the barbarians seem to accept members straight away, but so I thought the separatists would. The game really makes you thinking and no joining by hitting a button.
6. enemies are tough as nails, but you can reload in 2-3 seconds, can nearly always save anywhere.
7. I didn't get stuck anywhere at any time in the game.

The bad:
1. tree textures are not good, because they have no depth. Or maybe they need shadows to make them look 3D?
2. trainers are rare, I have yet to skill any perk at level 8 and maybe 10h played, because I only found a personality trainer so far and she is a barbarian.
3. no experience for anything but killing monsters and completing quests. This is very old school and traditional.
4. yes, the breasts physics are off. But I really only talked to one female barbarian (Sida or something like that).

The ugly:
1. sneaking does not really work as a game mechanic, it seems to half the detection radius only. I would like to place a surprise attack and not just walk up slower than usual without a weapon towards a monster to be detected at a 360 degree angle anyway, then have to exit sneaking and draw my weapon. It is counterproductive to sneak up to an enemy.
2. some monsters follow you across half the map. I killed my last quest target together with a bunch of albs by tailing monsters towards them. Didn't get XP for the kill, but dead is dead.
3. stamina is just an annoying nerf. I disabled stamina use entirely with a cheat and it is a much more rewarding experience. I can always run away if I move cleverly, I can always try to dodge, I can always attack.

p.s. that running gag "Have you seen Ray?" :) I sold his location to three guys now...
