"Key" ending is the fastest, you can get it in ~30 shards.
Too bad I missed an opportunity to (probably) get help in achieving this victory. I got an event a few turns after starting the game on one of the shards, where an old man appeared that probably possessed some knowledge about them. Resurrecting him costed 25 gems, and I had 24 :( I've conquered quite a few shards after that, and so far I didn't get any news about the keys...

In my first campaign, I had this old man coming to my castle. But I don't have enough gems to resurrect him. Anyway, I decided to restart the campaign.
Now, in my second campaign, I had this event again. This time, I have enough gem to resurrect him. But they say the spell failed. The old man failed to be resurrected.
So does it mean that I miss the key of truth again? It is so frustrating to restart the campaign, get the same event and you have enough gems to resurrect him yet the spell fail.
How exactly does the key of truth ending works?
