Ok, does anyone know whether it works via Wine? That's the only question which stops me from buying this game, other than that, it looks perfect. I don't imagine there would be any problems with it, but... If you either do use LInux or have access to dual-boot (or, indeed, virtual machine,) would you be so kind as to check for me?
I'm going to give the demo a try, but it's Russian only, so I hope the language doesn't get in my way. The game has one platinum rating at the AppDB, if that matters.

I was just trying (as a Linux Newbie) to get it going in Linux Mint with PlayOnLinux and installation stopped with an "Access Violation on gdiplus.dll". Using winetricks to get another gdiplus.dll didn't help. Any idea?

It's the v2 installer. What I just did was installing via PlayOnLinux Citizen Kabuto script. After the installation was finished it gave me an error that it couldn't find the game's .exe (understandeably,) so I've had to locate it via the add shortcuts feature in config. The game works like a charm now.
Would you mind telling us the Wine version please? I installed the demo successfully but I get errors when I try to launch the game. One message mentions a class with "unicode" in its name, so it might be just an issue with cyrillic characters.

EDIT: by the way, running Winetricks gdiplus always got the new GoG installer working for me

1.4.1, running trough PlayOnLinux Citizen Kabuto's virtual drive tho, so there might be something which happens to make it work installed. And... yeah, I've got the GOG version.

Thanks a lot! That helped me through the installation. Now it crashes after the initial loading screen of the game itself (just displays the full progress bar). Any idea? Might my 64bit system be a problem?

Bugger, I've got a 64bit system myself and it works just fine, no problem. Try toying around with wine versions in the configuration, it might help

Try launching it via virtual desktop

I will. Thanks.
This title works out of the box on my machine with the upcoming version 12 of Crossover that is based on wine 1.5.15 + many fixes and tweaks. I have not tested with an earlier build though (wine 1.4.1). Installer also worked without needing to add GDI+
Yes, it worked (almost) out of the box for me as well in Wineskin using Wine 1.5.18. I had to run Winetricks ddr=gdi because the default OpenGL option causes extreme flickering on certain Macs with certain games. The mouse feels a little weird, I already tried running Winetricks mwo=disable but that didn't do anything. I read that Windows users with certain CPUs have a laggy mouse, so this might be a problem with the game itself. Another thing, the GoG installer had a wew black obxes but it worked fine, didn't need any overrides to get it working. The demo still doesn't work though (not that I care anymore).

I'll play a little bit more to test it, then I'll upload a wrapper to the Porting Team.
Using playonlinux, I successfully installed eador using the giants: citizen kabuto script, as described above. However, the game froze on startup. After changing the wine version to 1.315 everything seems to be going alright. Will update if anything changes.

using virtual desktop 1024 768
quad core i3
8 gigs ram
GeForce gt 440 (driver version 304.51)
LInux Mint Debian edition
kernel: 3.5.07 Liquorix

That did the trick. Thanks!
Glad to hear it!
Doesn't work for me at all. Wine 1.4.1. Most of what is in this thread is confusing like hell.

Edit: nvm, this installer is really broken so you have to fiddle with it. I wasn't seeing any buttons whatsoever so I smashed the keyboard with my palm ant it worked... Great Windows nostalgia moment here ;)
