NecRus888: Hi, guys!
In Russia we have an exiting mod for Eador The Genesis - "New Horizons": http://eador.com/B2/viewtopic.php?t=2024&highlight=
There is too many features: 100+ units, spells and items, upgradable units, new encounters and epic guardians!
It is only for russian vesion of the game, unfortunately. But we want to share it with you!
There is so many fiction text. We can translate on english with google translate. But we need native speaker to help us fix and correct our translation.
Anybody can?
I would be more than happy to help out on the translation for this game cause i absolutely love it. I am a native english speaker in Canada so send me a pm if you need me. Keep up the good work.
hello, any news about translation? Is it working on it or not? Shame I cant speak russian.
I almost forgot that there's this thing ongoing.

Is it ongoing?
Can anyone post some screenshots of this mod?

Hi Gremlion, are there any news about translation of New Horizon?
"Official translation thread" from here http://www.gog.com/forum/eador_series/eador_new_horizons/post11 is dead since february.
Sad, but true.
Is it dead because the author does not want it translated? Or because there is nobody to help with the translation. I have read several threads on various websites and was never sure what was going on with it. If native English speakers are needed to edit and proof then I will volunteer to help with that. I just need to know the process and what needs to be done.
I d/ld the russian version just to sift through the data files. It looks quite interesting. I guess if we want an english version we'll have to do it ourselves. Or make our own mod.
Because this mod still contains parts of Eador which already were translated, I think it would be better to compare ru_ vanilla with ru_modded and replace unchanged parts with english bits. I will look into this.
I think what can be done is - translation of new units/spells/items names. As for the descriptions I see a couple of options:

a) brief description only
b) machine translation only
c) all of the above

Frankly, I prefer an "a" option because machine translation suck and is hard to read. To play and have fun from this great mod you don't need descriptions, so the first release of the mod translation can be done with what I've mentioned above.

I wrote already in the Drunken Dragon Pub about this idea and I can help, but I need to see what progress already has been made, because I don't really want to do the same work twice :)

However, in defense of b) Machine Translation can be cleaned up relatively easily by a good English speaker afterwards, even with no Russian skill. So Machine Translating everything (that isn't in original Eador, like Gremlion pointed out) could be a first step.
I looked into the files too, some files will be fast to translate, but some - example events has 300 pages. But as gremlion sad, maybe some events are taken from vanilla eador and are not needed to translate.

I can help with translation - but I cant speak russian so I have to use google translator and manualy modify english translation.
Well the problem is that there are 139 new creatures, 200 new spells not to mention new events and misc(like new races). descriptions. So it'll require a LOT of cleaning. Though I agree that's a valid point about Machine Translation.

If I start this project I'll start with names for new creatures(139), spells(200) and items(255). As for the descriptions I can put them into the Google Translator partially
