My security tools tells me that eador_mbw.exe is trying to do DEP mitigation, and this is the reason the systems shuts it down.
Hope this helps.
@daermanonn That's... odd. For some reason it appears that your system forgets your DEP settings after running once =/ I seriously don't know what would be causing that... is your profile the main one in the computer? Or are there other people that have higher priority and are administrators on it?
Nope, only one profile on that PC thats me the administrator. At least if the game runs it runs quiete well, no crash or lag or anything on ultra settings. I hope they fix that bug soon, but i am confident since many people cant seem to even start Eador atm. Still hoping for a hotfix ;)
Removing a protection to play? Not very reliable..
Will this game really be a joke?.

I got an access violation at the main menu trying to select campaign/manual and what ever the other option was. Solved it by allowing the game to make an internet connection - the firewall was blocking it.

Not entirely comfortable with this as I don't see why it has to dial home for me to play single player (not that multiplayer is an option),

Edit:

I'm also running it as administrator on Win7 and installed to a non standard folder.

Yeah, DEP is there for a program's own good, so to speak. These access violations likely mean that the game is inherently unstable.

akmych: 1) Delete the folder "My Documents\Eador"
I didn't find any Eador folder in C: (the game is in J:)
I use Win8 Pro 32b, with last driver of AMD Radeon HD 68xx card.
What are the names of the config files?

You only deactivate DEP for this application not for your whole system. It is very unlikely MotBS would be a target to malicious code (aka viruses) atm.
DEP is a technology preventing the execution of code from memory marked as data (not code), so there is clearly a bug involved, as DEP is meant to stop buffer overflow attacks. Making an exception for MotBS is a work around and disabling DEP isn't a good idea for some reasons but on the other hand: don't be a drama queen, it doesn't makes your computer vulnerable without some kind of attack customized esp for MotBS while using the multiplayer part .... well ...

akmych: 3) Of this doesn't help too, please attach to this thread your profile files (from "My Documents\Eador") and dxdiag.
Ok, but where are those profile files? There is no Eador folder in My Documents / Mes Documents, nor elsewhere on \C:
The worst release on GOG..

dxdiag can't be attached here, it's not a picture

I have it in My Documents\Eador (my game is in D:) .

Maybe it's necessary to use config.exe in game folder to create some profiles then profile folder will appear .

Finally - patch 1.0.4 fully resolve problem - everything works fine with enabled DEP.
