Ask for a refund ?
Yeah, I wish publishers were offering a way to use Steam keys on GOG (like they did for the Stalker series)... :(

Gonen32: Ask for a refund ?
I would but this does not seem like a valid reason...

Any reason is a valid reason; you can get a refund through Steam because of literally anything. You can say you didn't like what the main character's pants look like, and as far as Valve is concerned, that's a valid reason.
I spent weeks looking at reviews, wondering if I could buy it off Steam and apply some "special sauce" to get rid of the Steam client.

In the end it wasn't guaranteed to work, so I didn't. Very happy to see it here today.

So yeah, ask for a Refund. Or it would indeed be nice if the "Reclaim your game" feature would work with Steam keys.

As long as you didn't play more than two hours (IRC, not sure of the exact duration) and didn't bought the game more than 15 or 30 days ago (again don't remember the exact value) you don't need any reason to be able to ask for a refund.
Another Problem is, that this game cannot be purchased in Germany and I had to buy a key from another country, so no direct Steam purchase...

Well people in the main thread are saying they can purchase it from GOG in Germany... hopefully someone can confirm.

Yeah, we can. But not on Steam, and so I had to buy a Steam key external and not via Steam directly - so I cannot get a refund in Steam, I guess. Gog should work, at least I can see the shop page (while I cannot see Quake II, Wolfenstein or Commandos).

You are correct. Valve doesn't refund games you have purchased "externally" (= via a keystore).

After Geo-blocking:
Can confirm, just - uhm not - bought and - uhm not - downloaded Dying Light from GOG, because I live in Germany. I don't always like political decisions made here. I am 51, btw.

Maybe you want to try a proxy/VPN/TOR/...
Or is there a check of the IP range? Otherwise, just change the settings in your account...

I am also German, but I do not live there currently, and thus I am not under restrictions. Otherwise I would be quite angry I think...
Whatever, letting the government decide about which games adults are allowed to play is ridiculous, you should not accept this if you want to play the game.
I know, bought rtCW and Quake 2 via VPN. Still annoying that GoG slownly starts to censor its catalogue... bad trend!
