As in target audience - I realised only after posting the question is ambiguous. Damn gog, why can't I edit the title for as long as no one replied?

As likely a lot of you, an old fan of the original DK here, which makes me over 40. I previously stayed away from this series because the art style and the kind of humour present in the trailer made me think more about Clash of Clans than DK. It's not to say it would be a worse game if it catered to a younger audience - in fact, if it did, and had I kids, I'd much rather buy them DK in a different coat of paint than a lot of other trash, but it just wouldn't make sense for me to buy something designed for preferences of a different target group and have a bad experience. I suspect even the devs might prefer the loss of a tiny bit of revenue to a dissatisfied customer. Graphics are the least of a problem, if the gameplay is good, although I could see - or hear - the narrator getting on my nerves (while the one from the original still rocks). Of course, the biggest question here is the level of difficulty and general complexity, it doesn't have to treat itself too seriously. I still have a lot of fan content to go through in another dungeon sim, so while I wouldn't mind a bit of change, I am not really that pressed in look for a job in my profession.

I am 25, got through this game because it whas recommended as a lover of Overlord and as a dungeon manager where the first game is refreshing different as you first have to satisfy heroes before killing them.
But sadly the most players did not like. Well I never heard of Dungeon Keeper before and did not first know why everyone is so out for War of the Overworld. Now after Dungeons 2 I think I understand eagerness.
Anyway I think the Dungeons series is targeted for the more casual players, those that either back then played Dungeon Keeper and now get old and rusty or the new ones that come from Overlord and so want some easy fun in being evil.
Meanwhile the hardcore dungeon overlords can go for War for the Overworld which is really hard.
First of all, for now there is still no game comparable to the first DK, that game is still one of a kind.

With "War of the Overworld" they did a really good job, still it is more a remake of DK2, but without story and almost completely made for the gameplay alone.

"Dungeons 2/3" are the most graphically similar clones to DK, with an overflow of "bad/silly" jokes inside, this is not necessarily a bad thing, at some point one will be used to those, or in the worst case, you can shut off the narrator from the options.
The gameplay is similar to the one of DK2 while inside of the dungeon, but you can't force creatures to works on rooms not made for them, so if you neet traps to be built you'll need goblins, to resurrect your dead creatures in the resurrection chamber you'll need to have undeads, etc...
There is also the twist of the overworld, so you can send some creatures in the upper world to attack directly the humans... in this case the gameplay changes completely and the creatures will act as a normal RTS game, you select them, make groups, give attack/move orders, etc...

"Dungeons 2" and "Dungeons 3" differs a lot between them in the interface and management mechanics, but the main type of gameplay is still the same.
These are not bad games, if you can stand the childish atmosphere surrounding them.

My impression is that "Dungeons 2" is more difficult than "Dungeons 3", but I don't remember if there was a difficulty selector... I'm pretty sure that in the 3 was there but I never touched it.
