Did any Linux users manage to run the GOG version smoothly?

OpenGL doesn't work with any exe files for me, there is sound but no graphics past the intro.

The DKII-DX.exe seems to run with OpenGL but is unplayable. The gdi mode crashes it straight away.
The DKII.exe has random crashes. (Haven't played on 800x600 too much but it seems to be stable on this resolution so far).
The DKII_SOFT.exe sometimes crashes on 1023x768 but seems to run fine on 800x600.

Virtual desktop or not, doesn't seem to make a difference.

If anyone had better results, could you share your Wine/PlayOnLinux configuration?
I would like to bump it to 1024x768 if possible.

Much appreciated, fellow keepers.

There's an install script for DK2 on PlayOnLinux. It works fine for me.

Not me, the game randomly crashes after about 2-3h of play on Ubuntu 14.04 32bit & Wine 1.8 + Retail DK2 1.7 (DKII.exe) + 1024x768 + Hardware3d enabled" on Intel Celeron G550 with Integrated Intel GPU HD Graphics + 4GB RAM:

I still play the game but since the game crash first time after 2-3h , you need to load a fresh save and you need to prey it wont crash anymore before you finish the map.

But in 50% of cases after the first crash, the game will crash more frequently, forcing more frequent loading another saves, making finishing the map a pain.

In the worst scenario, you will be unable to finish the map, because any save you load, the game will crash just after a few secondes.

The only way to finish the map in this situation is to load some much earlier save, but then you have to replay a half of the map, and in the end the crashes may appear again.

If after the intro movie you get stuck with a black screen or the last frame of the movie, but the sound in the background tells you the game seems to be working, then it has *not* crashed.

See here how to work around this bug:
