Hello DK Community :)

I have been so happy that i found DK1 here to download.. and also compatible with my new Computer with
Windows 8.1 .

Well i started the game, and everthing worked very fine.. i was so happy.

But after a while like 15 minutes of gameplay, my Cursor began to run to the left, and stuck there. I wasnt able to move it to right just up and down.

I hope one of your guys can help me. I already used the search engine here and there as someone with the same issue... but the answers didnt helped me alot ( because i dont udnerstood how it will fix the issue)

so i hope you guys can help me

best regarts Bimbum :)

I have this same issue. Not sure what it is. Any help would be appreciated.
A lot of games don´t like having a gamepad or a joystick connected to the computer while running them.
It seems there is some sort of "collision" sometimes...
- Try to unplug your joypad,
- or just press all the direction buttons on your joypad, as if calibrating it.
Hope one of these helps.
Best regards

I can´t be 100% sure as that problem only appears to me after long periods of time (maybe 2+ hours). I think it happens with most Bullfrog games with DosBox. What I usually do is exit the game and reopen it each time it happens, but if you only have around 15 minutes, then you will surely need something better. There are plenty of topics about it on this and Theme Hospital forum, but I don´t think anyone has found a better solution yet than restarting.
It is such a shame. because i mean this game is great in my opinion. but this bug kills the fun :S
Use a Windows version of the game?
I do use the Windows Version of that game
You're not using the GoG DOSBox version?
This bug was in the original version of the game, and in the original Theme Hospital as well. There are things that people have tried at various stages, but the only real solution is to save often, and then reload a save if it happens to you. I've played all the way through the original Dungeon Keeper, and the original Theme Hospital, and the GOG Dungeon Keeper, and this has only happened to me about 3 or 4 times in total.
This definitely happens more than a little. I have found however that, if you alt-tab the game away and alt-tab back, then hit escape.... super luckily the cursor is lined up with the save icon. So you don't have to have saved before it happens. You can still get a save off after it happens. Then just close the game and reload the save file.

I just got the game for free on Feb. 15th 2014, and I'm very grateful that GOG gave me the incentive to try this game out. The game is very enjoyable until the screen drifting starts up. This annoying issue ruins the entire experience and it happens regularly, this game has been around for a long time and it's a shame that no one has corrected this issue thus far.

Have you checked the DOSBox forums if there was a fix?

Then maybe they didn't bother finding what caused this bug because there are a lot of other alternatives than DOSBox for playing this game?

After trying all these workarounds people have been suggesting, if you come to the conclusion none of them works, I'd strongly recommend writing directly to GOG support. Those guys work wonders and really care about their community, so I'm pretty sure they got you covered, if all else fails.
@groze
I'm going to do that because I think this game is worth it. Does DK2 suffer the same way?, I'm thinking of purchasing it.

OS: Windows Vista 32-bit
Used Alt+R for higher resolution in-game

Modified settings in dosboxDK.conf

[sdl]
fullresolution=0x0
windowresolution=800x600
output=OpenGL

[render]
aspect=true

[joystick]
joysticktype=none
DK2 is a Windows game only - it doesn't use DOSBox, so you shouldn't have this issue.
