Zero_Starlight: Hi, just tried to run Keeper FX and it threw up the error Error: In source LbBullfrogMain:
2 - Setting up game failed.

I copied (BUT DIDN'T OVERWRITE) all the folders from the iso, so any idea what happened? I'm kinda baffled, because apparently I missed some files, and I don't know how, seeing as I followed your guide step by step...

EDIT: Wait, am I supposed to copy the KEEPER folder from the iso, instead of the DATA, LEVELS, and SOUND sub folders themselves?
avatar
devilhood: Not the KEEPER folder, but the folders inside it.

You also need to copy the DATA, LDATA, LEVELS and SOUND folders from the Dungeon Keeper Gold install.
Sorry, this might sound stupid, but how do I go about copying those files? When I copy and paste them Windows XP says 'This folder already contains a folder named 'SOUND' etc. How do I make it so it copies only the files that aren't there?
avatar
CraftyAztec: I cant play any of the single player campaign, when I select a the first level the red disc appears then the game closes, I've been using the 0.4.4 complete download and the KeeperFX r1058 patch. The folder that contains KeeperFx is 819MB and 835MB on disk. Anything I might of missed?
Did you follow the guide carefully and copy the required files from the Dungeon Keeper Gold GOG install?

I think it might help if you don't copy and paste. I use Windows 8 which is a little bit more intelligent. It tells you straight away if you'd like to skip any existing files.

Try left click drag the folder(s) from one Explorer window to the other. You could probably safely do it the other way round... as in, copy your entire KeeperFX contents straight over the ones in your GOG folder. Overwrite as necessary. I've never done it that way though so I can't guarantee if it will work properly.

I want to try and ask this question again, because I fear that it's been buried underneath other replies:

smurphatron: Can anyone give me some advice as to whether or not this mod would work on Mac OSX? I have the game running fine, I just need to know if it's worth attempting to install this mod.

Thanks in advance!
hi all,
is there any way in KeeperFX to:
- zoom in/out? the characters and environment appears too close and too big to me.
- change the game speed? the game runs too fast even on my old Core2Duo @ 2GHz.

thanks in advance for any reply!

smurphatron:
Read the forum more carefully or try using search. This has already been answered here

Read my notes at the bottom of the first post. I've already explained how to zoom in and out.

The game runs too fast for you? That's the first time I've heard this problem, because the game is specifically locked to 20 turns per second. This is defined in the launcher.exe under Run options > Game speed.

Can you please describe to me in detail exactly how it is running too fast?

Didn't work for me, but I seem to have found a work around. All I had to do was open the (Example: ldata folder) in both the keeper fx folder, and the GOG installation folder, select all the files in the GOG folder, copy them, then paste them into the keeper fx ldata, MAKING SURE TO HOLD DOWN THE SHIFT KEY AND CLICK ON NO when asked to overwrite files. This keeps all the files from the GOG install in that folder as well as the keeper fx one. I'll edit this when I'm done setting it up and I'll see if it works.

Fingers crossed!

EDIT: Alright, launcher says it's ready to start the game, so here goes nothing...

Nicely done :-) That sounds like it should be fine. Tell me if you're successful!

Okay, soooo... It started, got to the title screen, selected options to see if the dripped noise and stuff would play, and the game crashed silently. *Shrugs* Thought nothing of it, maybe the mod doesn't allow you to mess with that stuff inside the game. Started it again, went for the original campaign, we've got the snarky narrator, the circle flag is kinda transparent, I'm assuming that means I can't play that right now, weird, but start the first level aaaaaaaaaand... it crashed again.

...

I suck at this. XD

EDIT: I'm gonna try copying the files on the CD, I assumed that because the launcher didn't say anything about it when I copied the files from the GOG installation, it meant I was OK, but hey, maybe that's the issue right there. -.-

EDIT EDIT: NOPE. That did nothing either. Gonna reread your instructions, I must have missed something...

EDIT EDIT EDIT: OK, so as my last resort, I've deleted the Keeper FX folder, and I'm gonna completely ignore the mounting bit, and just copy the files from the GOG folder. With any luck whatsoever, this will fix the issue.

...

*sighs*

So after wracking my brain for hours. I found out that Daemon Tools was needed to get the music up and running. WindCDEmu did not work for me.

You'll know you've got it mounted correctly with your .cue file when your disc registers as an audio CD.
OK, I give up for the evening. It's 8:03 PM and if I try to fight with this any longer I'm probably gonna cut years off my life. -.- I'll come back to this at some later date, but for now, I bid you all a good night.

Yeah I've followed the instructions same result each time, went into each folder in the gog install and the iso mount and dragged them over into the keeperfx folder and selecting the dont copy option for any duplicate files, I also had the same problem using these instructions as well;

Edit:

Try the suggestion offered by silmarill_SVK below, and let me know if that works.

pardon me, but why do you copy that files? i have downloaded the KeeperFX installer, pointed it to the game directory (where game.gog is) and played. no copying and no ISO mounting was necesarry... just run it as administrator, otherwise you'll get some errors when setting up the game.

EDIT: Upon closer inspection of the game.gog file, it seems that the only thing extra it contains are the other languages files, but it would appear that KeeperFX works without these files.
