Took me some effort to get DK working on a Dell XPS laptop, Win7x64. Various solutions here in the forums with registry settings and/or editing APPDATA config files either didn't work or don't seem to be needed anymore.
Problem : Opening video stalls or is black, while audio keeps going. Skipping to end of video shows menu but mouse and cursor keys don't do anything.
Solution: Dell laptops (and others) have Dual graphics processors. One for better battery life and the other for performance. The cure for me was to open Nvidia Control panel (r-click on blank part of desktop) and set the preferred graphics adapter Nvidia instead of Intel. (Sorry lost the page where I learned this.)
After that DK just worked. After game is started use Alt-R to switch to higher resolution mode, and Alt-Enter to toggle full screen. Enjoy!
