Ginnungagapp: Hello,

I get this bug and find how to fix it :

- Back up "DDDA.sav".
- Download the tool named DDsavetool (I can't add link here, search on internet, you will find it on Steam community)
- Convert your savegame to "DDDA.sav.xml" with "DDsavetool.exe -u DDDA.sav" (Run with cmd.exe from savegame dir)
- Open "DDDA.sav.xml" with text ediror and search for the line "<u64 name="mGalaxyID" value=" at the end of file. In my case, when the savegame was corrupted the value was "0". So, you need to replace the "0" par your GalaxyID.

For find the galaxyID (Maybe there is a more easy method, GOG ?) :
- Relaunch the game
- Reset the savegame by choosing "YES" when asked after the corruption message.
- Restarted a new game and wait the game is saving message before exit.
- Rename "DDDA.sav.xml" to "DDDA_1.sav.xml"
- convert the new "DDDA.sav" file created to "DDDA.sav.xml" with "DDsavetool.exe -u DDDA.sav".

For fix the savegame :
- Copy the ID from "DDDA.sav.xml" to the "DDDA_1.sav.xml" in "<u64 name="mGalaxyID" value=/>.
- Save "DDDA_1.sav.xml".
- Delete "DDDA.sav" and "DDDA.sav.xml".
- Rename "DDDA._1sav.xml" to "DDDA.sav.xml"
- Reconvert "DDDA.sav.xml" to "DDDA.sav" with "DDsavetool.exe -u DDDA.sav.xml"
- You now have a fixed "DDDA.sav", lanch the game and enjoy.
Don't know why youi couldn't link toi it, unless you tried to link to the download.
With all mods you should link to the Descrirtion post, not direct to the download.
Here's the link

rejitj: Sure, I also wanted to ask if a refund is possible on this purchase that is if you are not able to fix that save file. Can I ask for a refund ?
avatar
Thiev: For now, I managed to restore a checkpoint (I think). Please check your email and let me know if it works.
avatar
vahki530: I have the same problem. Is there any way to fix the data?
avatar
Thiev: I can try - please send me your .SAV file (see above posts for details) and I'll have a look
When you go online, file cannot be loaded message comes in. I am going to ask for a refund.

that's what the today's hotfix will be, but it needs to go our QA first.
If you don't want to wait, you can switch to the beta branch via GOG Galaxy. Branch is open and named Release Candidate (pic attached)

To restore your previous appearance, load the game, press ESC, load and pick 'restore last checkpoint'

Thanks, Thiev. This time it works. I checked both offline and online, everything is normal and am back into the game. Thanks to your work and patience.

I'm glad to hear that.
And I think I should thank you for your patience :)
One small question:
If I don't use gog galaxy where the save are stored? What is that make the save file incompatible with the steam version (for example)?
Finally if I backup my offline save file, will I be able to restore it after a while?

Saves are stored in the same place, regardless of Galaxy being installed or not.
Steam saves use SteamID for identification and thus will not load if that record is missing from the save.

There should be no problem whatsoever with offline backups.

rejitj: I went offline and I got corrupt save data when I started the game. When I was online, I did use online pawns. Did anyone else faced this problem?
avatar
Thiev: Save data is not corrupted! it will be visible if you go online again.
We are aware of this problem and are already testing a hotfix for that.
excuse me did this hotfix of yours get released yet?

Not sure this will fix the problem in your case, but you can easily check the "DDDA.sav" file to see if the "mGalaxyID" value is equal to "0", and if it is the case, fix the problem with this method.

When I tried to run "DDsavetool.exe -u DDDA.sav" to Convert "DDDA.sav.xml" with "DDsavetool.exe, it failed.

It says Error: Uncompress failed. Data error.

Does it mean I wouldn't be able to see myGalaxyID value?
