Yeah this is obnoxious and completely unacceptable. When releasing old games it is GoGs resbonsibility to make sure they are compatible, but for new game it is the company which made the game that is responsible, there definitely should not need to be testing done by GoG before releasing such patches, if they want to test it, they can do so after it has been released, since any complications will be due to and the responsibility of Larian or the respective company.

Even now i see an even newer patch has been released. And we don't even have the Savegame fixing one yet. I am certainly not buying any new games from GoG ever again with this patch testing policy of new games.
There's another possibility: GoG does its own testing before releasing a patch, and given that the first patch fixed some issues at the expense of creating others, it's quite likely that they're being more thorough with their in house testing and may also have found other problems with the more recent patches and don't want to release another "fix these things, break those things" update.

Except they didn't say they ran into issues testing the patch, they said they didn't have the "final version". I don't know if that means there was a misunderstanding somewhere, or GOG decided to skip 1.0.33 and wait for 1.0.40 (which was recently released on Steam). Presumably there will be a Larian Vault patch soon (unless maybe there are plans for another quick update first), and the update sent to GOG.
In my opinion neither GoG nor Larian did a good job. Both didn't even clarify the situation here at any point and that's all I need to know about both. But as we are talking about a product from Larian it should be their own interest to clarify things .. or they don't care about their customers.
So Larian showed us clearly: Steam users are preferred and GoG users can go to hell. Thanks.

Well, arbitrarily skipping patches because another one might be released eventually is certainly not the way to go.
I still assume that there has been a misunderstanding somewhere, but I start regretting that I've chosen GOG instead of Larian Vault/Steam for DC.

Agreed, will certainly make me think twice now about getting products from either.
From the Larian forum:
You can now download update 1.0.40 from the Vault. If you have the Steam version, you will receive it automatically.

GOG will put it online today.

We are testing out an autopatching system for the GOG and Vault versions so you don't have to worry about these anymore.

In fact wee need to worry now...no? this autopatching systeme will be optional hi hope?

I can't imagine it not being optional. For the disk version of the Divinity Anthology there is a 'launcher' program for each game that can check for updates and asks if you want to download/install any (or start the game otherwise), but it is optional even if you use the launcher and you can make a shortcut directly to the game exe file to bypass it entirely.
Ok...thanks for the awnser!

Raze_Larian:
There was no such patch on GOG today. so that is clearly not true.

As for Autopatching system for GOG where are we expected to find that ?
I did not buy it from the vault and i did not buy it from steam.

I bought from GOG and i dont see any updates what so ever.

Where are we suppose to get these patches from exactly ?
We are supposed to get them from GOG for the time being, but clearly something is not working as intended...

StarCrest: There was no such patch on GOG today.
Apparently it took longer than expected.

The autopatching system should be included in a future patch from GOG, when available.

At this point I'm finished with D:DC and Larian. The whole situation frustrated me beyond the point I would enjoy the game anymore. Also nice thing Larian is talking about GoG in their Forum but are unable to clarify anything HERE. And last but not least: don't give a time when you can't deliver it for sure. People expect you are true to your word ...

What exactly do you want Larian to clarify here?

Do you think Larian just picked a timeframe out of a hat, or maybe they actually talked to GOG and GOG told them when they expected to release the patch?
