mditsch: Hello,

I installed today (dec 29th, 2022) the GOG version of Dishonored 2 (key received for free by Amazon Prime Gaming).

Installation works without any problem, but when clicking start in GOG Galaxy v2.x the game won't launch.
The button in GOG is changing for a short moment to running, then showing two times synchronizing and then it is coming back to start wíthout any further message.

Rebooting the PC doesn't help and also not to let GOG verifing the gamefiles.

Is there any logging somewhere so I coud check what's going wrong? Or does anyone have another Idea?

My system is running with Windows 11, nvidia GTX 1080 and all drivers are up tp date.

Thanks in advance for trying to help.

regards
Michael
I had the same problem too.

I use a Ryzen 3 2200G, the first few times I tried to play I was using the Vega 8 that is integrated into my processor, and at the time I didn't have a video card, now as I reply here, I'm downloading the game again and I have a video card (RX 6600).

Sounds like this is a troublesome game to start and I wish I could play it, I've been through the first title in the franchise and I wouldn't want to skip 2, looks like we're all in the same boat here, problems starting the game Dishonored 2.

Same situation. I've tried many things that have been said here, but still no success. Hope they launch an update or sth soon
I had the same problem after switching GPUs. A bunch of potential solutions, both that are mentioned here and that aren't didn't help (I won't mention them because there's no reason to think they'll help anyone, but someone might make a mistake and cause more problems for themselves). However, running Display Driver Uninstaller, and then reinstalling the graphics driver solved the problem.

Same scenario for me, couldn't run it neither from galaxy, nor directly
I switched GPUs a couple of months back.
after looking in a few places, I found the solution of running DDU (Display Driver UnInstaller)
to be the solution that seemed to have worked most for simular situations (even for other platforms)

after running it (with windows in safe mode to be sure) and reinstalling my drivers after,
the game did boot with no problems.
Same Issue: Not Launching at all....

Same Fix: DDU in Safe Mode -> Full Re-Install of Driver

GPU: AMD Radeon RX 570
Same issue, seems related to having both an integrated GPU (AMD) and PCI GPU (Nvidia) enabled at the same time. I use both, with the integrated GPU driving a couple of screens used for "work" and the Nvidia GPU driving a 4k gaming display. As such, disabling the integrated GPU entirely in the BIOS is an inconvenient solution for me.

Workaround: Open the "Device Manager" and uninstall "AMD Radeon(TM) Graphics", making sure to check "Attempt to remove the driver".. Once the device is uninstalled, the screens connected to it will go blank. At this point, Dishonored 2 will start successfully. Eventually, windows will reinstall basic display drivers and the other screens will come back on, but as long as D2 is already running it will continue to run normally. Unfortunately, this has to be repeated every time I launch D2, but it saves me the trouble of rebooting to twiddle BIOS settings.
