I'm on a brand new pc, amd ryzen 5, 32gbs of ram, a gtx 2070 superclock, and this game plays like I'm using an NES... I know it's old, and I get old games had their share of optimization issues, but I'm quite used to (and pleased with) GOG ensuring that games they sell don't run like a brick trying to float. It's not just the dwarves being lazy, it's things like the camera not panning then zooming away, the tutorials being wonky to start the "movies" for the elf/fairie/whatever talking, etc etc. Any help would be appreciated because this game Does look great and I do want to play it

So I found an answer to my own question: I use evga precision x1 and hit the fps limit down to 60 fps and things appear to be working fine. Now, if possible, can anyone direct me to a manual of this, scan or otherwise? I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I can't pass the "make a keg of beer" part of the tournament
Hi there!

Great news about your fix for the wonkiness.

I wouldn't be able to help you with a manual, but what seems to be the problem about making beer for the tutorial? I've just finished it. You have to chop all the mushrooms, collect everything and deposit it near the brewery. Then you have to select the brewery which can be a bit tricky due to annoying detection issues. Drawing a selection rectangle with your mouse helps as well as making sure none of your diggles are in the way. :-)
Hope this helps!
On the topic of brewery.

Also remember to put your 2 tournament gnomes in free will mode (unclick those cogs near the clock) and put 2 other in no free will. That way only your tournament gnomes can work the brewery and it won't wait endlessly for the others.
Thank you both for the answers, but I'm still not sure what I'm doing wrong. I've piled up mushroom materials infront of the brewery and even locked a dwarf to working it and still they won't brew. I'll give it another shot today, maybe I'm making the mistake mpietrzak2 mentioned
Yeah I got nothin, and now in the sandbox mode they aren't performing any research. I'm missing something about how this game works I think but I have no idea how to learn
If you want to learn the game you can read the manual:
(you have to google it)

After reading it you can just go play the main campaign and you should be good.
