I exited the main gate, get to the world map and every direction I try puts me back in the city! I've tried going back in the city and leaving again to see if I'm in a different spot, but no. My party is smack in the middle of Graz and the game thinks I'm re-entering the city no matter which direction I go. Of course, each time I leave the city the stupid copy protection pops up, so that's fun.

The placement of gates compared to your location on the world map is indeed rather illogical.
I've never heard about it being as bad as you describe, though.
But there should be more then one way out of the city.

Oh yeah that city is at the bottom of the map or something. Catch a boat (to Pressburg I think?)

I realize this comes > 7+ yrs late (at this time), but I'll post this here for those who may run across this thread in the future...
