As stated in the topic, I have been downloading patches manually through the GOG webpage since release of the game. That means my current installation of the game is on version 1.63.

There is no download on the download page for a patch to version 2.0. Every other version update, the GOG page had a list of links available for patches from the previous version to the current version. I see no 1.63 --> 2.0 patch available whatsoever.

How are we expected to patch 1.63 to version 2.0? Is it that version 2.0 is exclusive to GOG galaxy? Are you forced to download the ~95 GB of stand alone installer files, instead of patching?

If the stand alone installer files are being forced on us, are we supposed to install version 2.0 OVER the previous 1.63?

I think you're out of luck, I decided to stop waiting and I got all those version 2.0 offline installer files (took a few days) before they sneak in a new version which is possible after Phantom Liberty drops.

If you read over the announcements around version 2 and everything they make it pretty clear that a fresh install is how they want this to go, to me that hints that they will probably force you to use Galaxy if you want to see 1.63 again let alone the offline installers for that version. Hopefully you have the offline installers stashed somewhere safe as I do, I have an external drive exclusively for offline installers now and I got from version 1.3-ish upwards quite the journey huh?

Well heck. I suppose there's not much recourse.

Fortunately, I have the initial full installer, and every patch ever pushed, all downloaded as stand alone. I also downloaded the entirety of version 2.0 as well. Pretty much around 400-500 GB, all things considered. Quite a journey indeed!

Did you wind up installing over your 1.63 install? Or did you install it to a different location as a fresh installation?
I still use the old stable Galaxy 1.2.67.58 and did the uninstall through that, it wiped the folder completely (it left mod files so I nuked them after) and did a new install from the offline installers, Galaxy detected it after the install finished. Works flawlessly ^_^

It started with my old save files but I think I might delete those too, new version new files my way of thinking.

Gotcha! Thanks much for the information on this. It's been a hassle, but hopefully it's all worth it.

I hope your new playthrough is a good one!
