I have been trying to run Cultures 1 which crashes every time I load it up. I am not sure what to do.

Loading it normally gives me: the Direct Draw Init Failed (001) and XWS: DDraw error occurred at: D:\Projects\Funatics\BaseLibs\XLibs\XWindowsSystem\XWS_DD_Display.cpp:602: <DDERR_UNSUPPORTED> .

Allowing the Parameter -window I am given: Can only work with 8 or 32 bit bitmaps in window mode when deskyop bitdepth is 32 bit! followed by Runtime Error! Program: ...ogram Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\Cultures\Cultures.exe abnormal program termination .

-gfx_fullscreen:0 gives the same error as loading the game normally. followed by a second of the narrator speaking

When placed into any compatibility mode the error: it either gives the same error as normal loading or FATAL ERROR: game config file cannot be located!

I am unsure as to what to try and do next so any help is greatly appreciated.

Seems like some monitor resolution problem though not sure, but did you try installing the game somewhere else then program files?
Try that, you probably have directx 9.0c installed right? Which os or windows are you using?

Maybe the wrapper here could help though not sure https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a-wGOsVqUTs
Or try DxWnd but i don't know anything about that.
