PhilsComputerLab: AFAIK a 32 bit application can only use up to 2 GB of memory.

For the game this doesn't matter that much, but for the sandbox editor it can become an issue :)
32-bit applications can access up to 4 GB of memory, but they need a Large Address Aware flag (works only on 64-bit OS as far as I know). But yeah, for open world game like Crysis and the sandbox editor, 64-bit is kind of a big deal.

The large address aware flag works on 32 bit system as well but you won't be getting more than 2GiB RAM for the application unless you also activate the 3GiB switch (I think that is what it was called). Even with that switch the application will only get at most 3 GiB. The are non consumer OSes where you can use more than 4 GiB of RAM on a 32 bit system though.

Jammet: This GOG version might be the original, might not be - so I hope someone can clear that up.

IronArcturus: Wait, is this game the original PC version or is it a "port of a port?"
It's the original PC version.
