I downloaded Crysis Wars directly from the site. I didn't use the downloader or Galaxy. When I click "internet game", it tells me to login to or create a Gamespy account. I don't have a Gamespy account, and as far as I can remember I've never attempted to sign up for one. Every time I try to create an account in-game, it says, "You have been disconnected from the server." How can I play this multiplayer-only game if I can't sign up for an account which appears to be required?

Gamespy has been defunct since 2014. theres no reason to make an account.

You cant play online this way. This game is almost a decade old. Gamespy servers and EA servers for this game were shutdown a long time ago. The only way to play online is to you and your friends use Hamachi(which is a program that pretends everyone you want to play with is in the same network as you are) and then use the LAN option to have multiplayer games.

Thanks for the reply. It's a shame, but at the same time, it's a game I didn't even know I was getting for free when I bought Crysis Warhead. Easy come, easy go. :)
At least it works in some fashion. Many other GameSpy multi-player games have been left with no mp support at all.

There is a fan-made patch that redirects multiplayer to unofficial servers. You can find more info and instructions here:

That said, it isn't something we can support and if you'd like to try it you will be doing it at your own risk.
I already had the DVD version of this but I didn't knew there was a fan made solution. Thanks for sharing!

Can't you use Gameranger to play Crysis? Or other Gamespy alternatives?

I would like to chip in to say that this works excellently and I have not experienced any form of downsides.

Not many players though, usually in the weekend there can be a bit of action on the servers.
I'd like to chime in and present another alternative for Crysis Wars online multiplayer other than germancrysis.com.

If you already installed the gog version of Crysis Wars all you need to do is to install CryServ Client to your ".../Crysis Wars/ " directory. That creates a mod - and a few shortcuts to launch the mod - that allows you to play on the CryServ servers (which you can view here: http://cryserv.eu/en/serverlist/players/).
At least that's what worked for me.
Very disappointed that I just spent $20 for Crysis Wars only to discover it is crippleware because it's outdated.

What do you mean? It is not even for sale on its own here.
