The game seems to run fine, but as the intro progresses, some of the characters voices drop out until, in the end, no dialogue can be heard whatsoever..
Highly annoying! When I get to the part where I can actually play, all the characters are mute. It can't be missing soundfiles since it alternates what dialogue is dropped as I restart the game.

Has anyone else had this problem?
Nevermind, I seem to have fixed the problem by permanently setting processor affinity to 1 by using imagecfg. Maybe something the gog team should have done in the first place?
Thanks for posting the solution.

Again, the solution is to open the 'System' folder in the BS4 folder.

Then, open the compat.cfg file.

Edit: Then, set the values for audio as suggested.

Oops, the problem recurred so I would be grateful for any suggestion.
Try this:

Open the compat.ini file, and change the following values:

[EmAudioManager]
m_bDSoundLocDeferOn = 0
m_bDSoundLocForceSoftwareOn = 1

This forces sound to software mode, I think.

Works for me.

I'm not a techie. How did you do that? I'm having the same problem.

I tried what was suggested by opening the system folder but there wasn't a compat.cfg file
