Hello there,

I've got the DVD version of Broken Sword 4. Unfortunately it doesn't work properly
on my PC (Windows 7 64bit, quadcore processor): the characters are all black as
if the textures are not loaded at all. Changing the graphic settings results in a game crash.
That's why I'm thinking about buying it here on gog.com and here's the question:
Does the gog-version work well on Windows 7 64bit and quad core processors?
Is there any way to fix this bug anyway?

Thanks for the help! :)

if you have the DVD you do NOT need to buy the game from GOG,
Revolution (the creators of broken sword) did release a fix for this awhile ago at their site
http://revolution.co.uk/?page_id=7&game_id=7
It works fine on the DVD version of BS4 The Angel of Death (but it does NOT work on Secrets of the Ark apparently so anyone with the CD version you are out of luck) since i have tested it myself and it gets rid of those black characters :)
Or the alternative method is to turn off all cores on your CPU over 2 and run the game on only 2 cores (you need to disable them in your boot file or your bios, just patching the EXE or setting affinity does NOT work, And i know the revolution site says it does but it doesn't)

Also on a side note the new Fix from revolution removes their DRM so it also means after installing you do not need the DVD in your drive anymore which is also nice :)

Thanks a lot for the fast help!
I'm downloading the fix right now. :)

Greetings,
Sarge
Good thing is GOG release somewhat forced the developer to fix the issue. I think the problem existed since the original release date (2007) until last year, the time the game finally make way into GOG's catalog.
