badatvidyagames: The version of this file is not compatible with the version of windows you're running.

bakfak: Same here.
Using Windows 7 Pro 64bit btw.
I'm having the exact same problem. I have trouble with K+M anyway, but when it's like this, it's unbearable. And trying to just get a more modern K+M setup has been way too much of a headache. I think the, "The version of this file is not compatible with the version of windows you're running" thing was the last straw.

I'm going to stick with point and click type games on GOG (I love GOG and I love point and click games, so that's not a bad thing), from now on. I'm just not a keyboard+mouse guy and people laugh and laugh and laugh at anyone, like me, wanting to use a 360 controller for an FPS.

I don't care if it's more accurate to use a keyboard+mouse (unless we're talking multiplayer, but right now, we're not). I have my PC plugged into my TV and my PC audio plugged into my receiver and I like just kicking back in the recliner with a beer, a controller and a game. I'd take that over accuracy, any day of the week.
This works for me when I use the Launch Settings app and do the stuff about external controller, change the axis to negative etc, then save and launch the game. But the next time I try run Blood from its normal shortcut it doesn't recognise any mouse input. I tried to change the cryptic.exe line in dosboxBlood_addon.conf but it doesn't work. I then tried to find the blood.exe line in dosboxBlood.conf but there's no such line there (no .exe whatsoever actually, did a search). Any clues? Windows 7 64 bit.

Edit: Ok, I did it by changing the line blood.exe in dosboxBlood_single.conf which is the file I saw referenced in the default game shortcut. Now the only issue I have is a small visual glitch where only the bottom right of the game's window shows functionality if I start gameplay before bringing the window in focus then click on the window to do so. But it's easy to avoid by just clicking on the dosbox window before the game finishes loading up and it can be fixed by moving the window around if I happen to forget.

So yeah, thanks a ton, now the game plays almost as good as the source ports of Duke and Doom, it's not ruined by its archaic engine.

Al3xand3r: snip
This was the last bit that was eluding me, i thought it was just me being useless XD

Now the game is fixed! First time playing, enjoying it so far.
The game is SO MUCH MORE FUN with this little bit of greatness. Can't thank you enough!
Can someone explain in detail how to get bmouse to work from the shortcut? Please, I've been having so much trouble getting this game to work again when I needed to reinstall it.

Below: Thanks!

You need to change a few lines of text in dosboxBlood-single.conf (dosboxBlood.conf if you have the older version) and blood.cfg

In dosboxBlood-single.conf change the line near the bottom in the [autoexec] section that reads:

Blood.exe
to
bmouse.exe launch blood.exe

In Blood.cfg change:

ExternalFilename = "EXTERNAL.EXE"
to
ExternalFilename = "BMOUSE.EXE"

Save each and launch as normal.

Remember to press "U" to activate Mouse look.

it's amazing, THANKS~!
it works wonders in DOS too!
Just now tried bMouse, got working on DustyStyx instructions. Thanks :)
Thanks, now the game runs very fine!
Hi everyone. Sorry for the late bump.

I just bought a physical copy of this game and never heard about GOG until I did a search on how to fix mouse issues. I applied to the bmouse patch as the readme file suggested. For some reason, when I'm in the game with the keyboard+external setup, the mouse doesn't work at all. Any tips? Thanks a lot. This game seems amazing but I can't handle the mouse controls.

Sorry, failed to mention I'm playing Blood.

Did you also launch Blood through the "bmouse launch blood.exe" command?

Hey, thanks for the reply. I'll state that I really don't know how to work dos very well but I'm doing what I can. I seem to be missing dosboxBlood-single.conf and dosboxBlood.conf, possibly because of the physical copy and not having the folders that come with the gog version. I dragged bmouse launch blood.exe to the dosbox, it tells me the mouse has been initialized and says "returned from blood.exe" which brings me back to "C:\>" Not sure how to get to the game from there, I've only been able to get any of these files working by dragging them to the dosbox.

Sorry if that's not very clear, I may be missing something very small but that's where I am right now.

I made copies so I had a "bmouse launch blood.exe" and a "blood.exe"

Launching them in that order, the mouse still wouldn't work for me.

Eventually got them both to launch but still no luck with the mouse working. Thanks anyway.

OK, it sounds like you are running Blood through DOSBox. I wasn't sure how you were going about that. You will probably want to customize your DOSBox install a bit better than just dragging your Blood.exe ontop of DOSBox.exe. I keep meaning to write a new how to. Let me get that sorted.

I bought the version through this website. In addition to it looking better, sounding better and including a cutscene I didn't have before, all of your previous instructions worked. So I'm all set, thanks again.
