Mac & Linux BETA release
We're happy to introduce a beta release of native Mac & Linux versions of Blade of Darkness based on the latest v109 build. Mac version should work on systems starting from MacOS 10.9 (Mavericks) and up to the latest M1+ chips. With Linux, we targeted for compatibility with Ubuntu, Manjaro, and Arch distributions. This range of supported systems might change though we hope to keep as is.

To access beta builds simply switch the game to the Beta branch in the GOG Galaxy client.

Since it's a beta release bugs are to be expected - we encourage you to report any issue you come across at our Beta branch thread.

Berzerk2k2:
I had to roll back the new one's broken for a bunch of us
Thank you for still updating this gem of a game! I appreciate the new features like HD textures, the fov option and the UI scaling.

Although I've encountered a fair share of weird bugs.

GFX:
- There is a big visual artifact when picking up the gem in Gorge of Orlok. It looks like a placeholder icon for the item.
- The HDR Tone Mapping option completely obliterates the atmosphere in the dark areas. Now they just lit up magically all by themselves, I don't ever need to use a torch. It's a good thing that it can be turned off
- Weird white visual artifacts in foggy areas, like in Gorge of Orlok and in Fortress of Tel Halaf
- What happened to the water? It looks like still mirrors now, no waving like before

Subtitles
- I have no idea why was it necessary to rename a lot of items in the game, which we got used to in the past 20 years. Why is it better to use "Crushing Hammer" instead of "Venom Hammer"? Or "Broad Spear" instead of "Demon Spear"? It's a good thing that I can replace them with the originals...
- The english subtitles are re-done, and now they doesn't match the narrator's voice. Why was it needed? It's a downgrade. Speaking of subtitles, the text doesn't stay on the screen long enough, its not synced with the cutscene. I guess it was made for 30 fps or something.

Cutscenes
- The ending cutscene in Kazel Zalam cuts to black after one sentence. No sound, no picture. The game goes on though.
- The cutscene in the end of Oasis of Nejeb (when I fight the vampire for the second time) is broken. If I go to the temple, the game takes away the control, and my character slowly walks to the center, but the skeletons are already spawned and attacking me during the cutscene...
- The cutscene when I defeat Dal-Gurak is glitched too. He says his stuff, slumps to the ground, then he immediately stands up again after death...
- A lot of time my character's ankles are inside the ground during cutscenes (I noticed it with the amazon)

Sound
- In a few places the sound effects can be randomly VERY loud, like ear-piercingly loud. I remember a place near the crypts in Island of Karum, when a zombie busted down a wall, but it happend more than once.

Many thanks for all the work on non-Windows platforms.

How can one access the beta linux release via the beta branch on the GOG Galaxy client when the client isn't available for linux?

From a windows partition I downloaded the beta on gog galaxy and copied it to another linux partition in order to test the game.

I tried to run the "Blade.sh" script without success.
The content of the script is as follows: "cd bin/bin && ./Blade".
I checked the contents of the bin/bin directory and that executable does not exist.

Sneg, to those of us who paid 15 dollars in gog to be able to play the linux version, a question...

Are you kidding us?.
