I was having the same program not starting, no sound in cutscenes issues on Windows 10 as a lot of people are having but after trying solutions from GOG members skymt and Maphis, it is now working :)

I will list the steps here for simplicity, you can find skymt and Maphis's original forum posts in the topic: Incubation + The Wilderness: Windows 10, can't launch the game.

Hopefully, this will work for you too.

1. download the winmm file from: vogons.org/download/file.php?id=27848 (a specific version that worked)
2. copy winmm_nomciclose.dll
3. paste into install directory of incubation, normally GOG Games\Battle Isle Incubation.
4. delete or backup sound.dll located in the install folder.
5. rename winmm_nomciclose.dll to sound.dll
6. run settings.exe in the install folder.
7. Choose 3Dfx, save and launch.

Thank you very much, this works for Incubation but I still get the same issue with the Wilderness Missions. Any ideas, please?

Side note, I am running from the GOG Galaxy 2.0.14 and fire up Wilderness Missions from "Additional Executables"

Cheers

Geoff

You need to replace audio.dll with the same file.

Perfect, thank you :-)
Woooo! I can play this again! Thank you for posting the fix as I had no luck when using my CD version of the game.
