I had this same problem with my German CD version of the Platinum package (which I still have). I mainly bought the Platinum Edition here so that I can install the game easier and to play Incubation on Win XP (haven't managed to do that with any Glide Wrappers yet, the game becomes completely unplayable on my PC due to incredibly slow framerate when I use them).

Firek: My best guess is... Now. ;)

The new installer should now have been propagated across our file hosting provider's network (MD5 checksum is F9299C6748B4A169AF2CB7C6443C8328 in case you want to check it) and this problem should now be gone for good. Sorry for letting this slip past our vigilant QA team.
Hi!

I downloaded this via GOGDownloader, and was hit by the bug anyways. Also, the md5sum for the installer is 0419428A470B831EE4FB28B77AEFA707. Has the file been changed back to an older version by accident?
Thanks for bumping this thread. I had an issue with my old boxed copy that I tried to play not too long ago. Now I might finally be able to play it!
No problem AFnord!

As for my problem - it seems fixed now. The installers seems changed indeed (different MD5SUM) but it must be something else. I had messed up my bi2 folder, and, aparently some of the copy protection is still intact in the EXE, and kicks in if the exe detects that something is wrong.

In case you're wondering, HOW did I mess the game dir: I'm using linux, and had trouble mounting the image file first because of the ogg files having a different case in the cue file. I didn't notice that at first, so I copied everything off the CD image to the game dir, and changed path.txt to point to the current dir. Apparently the game doesn't like that. Or I screwed up something else. Anyways, I figured the problem with the CD-image, and re-installing to a clean state fixed the game ;-) )
I remember having this problem with my purchased Platinum pack years ago too. I also had an original BI2 so i could compare the standalone BI2 to the Platinum Pack, and it appeared to be a copy protection issue. Fortunately a very simple one: it checks the volume name of the CD, if I remember correctly. Re-burning the Platinum-pack cd with the correct volume name solved the issue back then. No clue what the name was though. But it doesn't matter any more.

Thanks GOG for fixing this.
