So this year I was gifted a Steam Deck, and when I turned my mind to fun games that might go well on it I immediately thought of Barony. I only own the game on GOG, but since there's a native Linux installer I figured it wouldn't be too hard to install that version on the Steam Deck. Sadly, not so. So far I've been unable to install the game on my Steam Deck no matter what I try; I always wind up with the following error at the exact same point in the installer:

orpheus_caves3V1.ogg: 80% (total progress: 98%)
NOTICE: File creation failed!
[hit enter]

I've tried running the installer normally or using sudo and encountered the same result. I've checked all the logs I know to check and have found nothing. I'm at a loss. If anyone has any idea what's going or how to fix it I would really appreciate some help.

Alright, thanks to some help from one of the devs (thanks Wallofjustice!) I was able to find a workaround. I bypassed the installer using the gogextract python script floating around on github and extracted the raw game files directly. In doing so I discovered that the file I listed (orpheus_caves3V1.ogg) is corrupted and only partially extracts, extracting ~104k despite a listed file size of ~137k. Nonetheless everything else extracts correctly and the game can be run using the "start.sh" script.

I've passed along what I found to the devs and hopefully the Linux installer will be updated to fix this. In the meantime if anyone else runs into this issue you can pull the files out manually using gogextract and "install" the game that way.
