I followed all of GoJays installation instructions, however I skipped a majority of the optional stuff as this is my first time through.

Menus run just great
The game is so delayed is nearly unplayable. However, if you leave the game to go to inventory screens etc, it's back to being smooth.

I am running administrator mode, I have attempted to disable 3d acceleration, but I am unsure if I succeeded. The graphics are on board intel graphics in my Asus Transformer t100 windows 8.1 machine. I also turned on compatibility mode with xp service pack 2. I have also been careful to change only 1 setting at a time, and so far nothing is helping.

What other options are there out there to try?

Definitely make sure your graphics drivers are up to date. The Windows 8 to 8.1 shift changed a lot of 2D DirectX stuff, so you want to make sure everything is updated. And if you haven't installed DirectX 9.0c, be sure to do that.

Also, if you're up to date on your driver, some people have luck rolling back to a pre-Windows 8.1 driver. You could try that.

Those are all of my ideas.

Bump for EE. I was never able to get this running properly...has EE been tested and proven to work with windows 8.1?

Tried BG:EE yesterday on my Asus laptop (Intel i7, 8mb RAM, nVidia GTX850M) and Windows 8.1. About a couple hours into play and it runs flawlessly with no issues so far. Also I didn't have to play with the setting, just the default configuration.
Asus sonicmaster i3 chip, 8 Gig ram, dual boot windows 8 and windows 8.1... both sides play bg2 and bg2ee without issue. 2nd look at your graptics driver.
I have an on board Intel chip which I know was an issue for standard bg1/2

The Microsoft graptics drivers are shit... remove them and load the intel drivers and the game works well in 8 and 8.1.
