GoG says I should download the new EEs ... BG1EE version jumped from 2.6.6 to 2.6.6-p.

BG2EE version seems unchanged.

So ... what changed ? Does anyone know ?

BG2EE also has this new version with a p at the end now.

If anyone has any information what this is all about I'd be all ears.

I've installed the patch for BG1EE already and there was no information given.

I cant find anything on the internet either.

I am curious too.

Otherwise:
If I don't know what is changed and my current version is working fine, don't install a new version.

I am also looking for information about this update! The strange numbering with p at the end makes me think its something done by GOG.

I just run the GOG galaxy and checked for updates, galaxy notified me that there is an update for BG1EE and I applied it. When I run the game, in the main screen however, it shows that I'm running 2.6.6 version. I don't see the "p" letter. Am I missing something, what's the best way to check the version that I have?

PS: I'm just starting to play BG1 again, it's been 20+ years since I played BG1&2.

As far as I understand the update just consists of two added community created portraits. Nothing else.

I don't think that is the case! If you read the steam post fully you will notice the 2 free portraits have their own installers or you could download them as files and add them manually. Links are provided in the steam post - they are not updates to the game, they are separate files. Also I found a post on reddit where Julius who works for Beamdog confirms this update is not coming from them so its something GOG did for sure! Maybe its something they did to make the main game compatible with the new DLCs?

Good to know :) If the update is not an official one I personally don’t see any reason to download the new GOG installer.

the P stands for portrait and accounts for the new DLC which adds 4 optional portraits

But why update the main game - aren't the portraits a separate DLC ?

so when you are looking back over your stored patch files you can see where the Dlc was added... this is just a bookkeeping thing

Hm they shouldve remove the last version in Galaxy then if technically they are the same. Instead the oldest version we could go back to got removed which is sad because the latest version(s) do have some bugs and made some changes.
