so. i have a pretty basic BGT setup. widescreen & unifinished business 1. i had UB2 but i removed it after an uninspiring "cat and mouse" experience. the recommended fixpacks.... whatever is in the sticky message here in the forum.

it's been going great. no issues at all. i completed BG1 & BG2, and one chapter of TOB. then loading my save games starting taking a ridiculous amount of time. like vanilla fallout 2 long. want to quit long.

i did a google, and i guess this has always been a thing? interplay/bioware released a beta (if it went gold, i couldn't find it) patch/fix. i checked it out, & it replaces the main launcher for the game (bgmain.exe). cool, only their launcher looks for a cd on boot & looks low res. cd's lol.

has anyone run into this? have a fix? my search kept pointing back to a patch that can't help me.

any help would be appreciated.

This could also be connected to the Fixpack. A possible solution could be biffing the override folder (storing files from the mod in a BIF file). See here: http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17956#c3 (It's from the Wine forum but applies to the Windows version as well)

thanks for the tip. checking it out now. will update with results.

UPDATE:

well nuts. that sounded pretty promising, but no change. i tried both "biffing" options & neither improved load times. thanks again for the suggestion.
