Recently there has been some interesting changes in http://baldursgate.com/ and if you take a look at source code, you will find this text:

<!-- February 13, 2012 -->
<!-- Shadowy Figure- Raise Dead : Infinity Engine -->
<!-- oh dear it's coming soon -->

What you guys and gals make of it? :)
I remember seeing something about a possible BG3 recently (though it wouldn't have anything to do with the first 2 story wise). Doubt it would use the Infinity Engine though.

My guess would be some type of special release of the first two.
There was even more text last month:

The use of the original game's music, companions' portraits, and the reference to the Infinity Engine make a sequel announcement seem very unlikely. The only thing that's new on the site is the updated Bhaal emblem which, I have to say, *does* look pretty nice. An HD remake would not be completely unimaginable, but I have no idea if the IE would be able to handle something like that -- it would probably require a major reworking of the engine, the game's graphics, etc.

This is a bit of IE-related news that I noticed a few sites picking up on last week: The Infinity Engine Goes Open-Source and Cross-Platform, Sorta, but GemRB is fan-made -- not an official product, and thus no real reason for an announcement on the official site.
Infinity Engine remake for newer systems? Google search also says new art. Maybe something mobile/tablet related? I sure hope not. Intrigued, anyway.
Yeah I gotta say I'm not getting my hopes up over this. Most likely scenario is official iPad ports I'm guessing. But even if it turned out to be Baldur's Gate 3, it would almost certainly be a simplistic, console-focused game DRM'd to hell and back that would be unrecognizable compared to the originals (of course that wouldn't stop the gaming sites from fawning all over it like they have for the Syndicate and X-Com "reboots"... yes I'm a cynic).

Obviously an un-announced developer is resurrecting the infinity engine and oh dear it is coming soon.
