Hey, a while back I played Baldur's Gate 1 up to Baldur's Gate, I think I did a few quests there, had entered that thief's guild and left it at that due to real life getting in the way. So my question is this, is it worth restarting from the start to see the events that will unfold after this point or would I be ok cracking on with BG2? Would I miss a lot? I guess I would, I do already know the answer to this one I think :)
Finish baldurs gate 1, trust me. You will feel much more fulfilled if you beat the 1st game and then go on with the 2nd.
Yea I think I will, I installed both with easytutu and will probably go ahead with that. Thing is it wasn't that long ago that I played it up to Baldur's Gate so I hope I don't get burned out. I lost my save or id just start from there.
In my opinion, the 1st baldurs gate isnt better than the 2nd. But the 1st game with tutu and all that the 2nd has, blows the 2nd out of the water.

I agree here. The open areas call my name much more than the relatively linear area's of the second. A lot of people don't like how you never really advance out of the low levels in the first game, however.
Thats what is cool though. In the 2nd game everything is about mages being the kings of the world and dungeon crawling to the extreme. Whereas the 1st is about melee. The reason i like the 1st is because you are not extremely powerful on your own. You stick together and you can defy what they throw at you. In the 2nd game there is all sorts of munchinized ways of making characters and dual classing is almost the norm to the point that the regular classes are useless and you can solo the entire game as one correctly munchinized mix. In the 1st game the core classes at least have something to offer.
