(1) Is there anything you should do before importing your character to the next game? I have the Golden Pantaloons, Chainmail +3 and the Helm of Balduran. I have also used some stat tomes.

(2) Is there anything I should get for Siege of Dragonspear? Most of the information I could find is about BG2. All I could find is that it is handy to bring an aquamarine.

(3) Is there any difference between importing a character file that has just defeated Sarevok and one that is in the wilderness?

(4) When should the Black Pits be done?

1) there's one tome for each stat except wisdom which has 3. You'd probably want to use all 8 of them on your main char.

4) black pits can be done whenever you feel like it.

If you're asking if story progress makes any difference, then no. The only thing that really matters is the character itself and its stats. BG2EE also checks the character for certain items from the first game to import them.

Thanks, I managed to pick up the last few tomes although unfortunately I had already completed the CandleKeep Catacombs.

That is good to know. I was worried that there would be some issue if I did not use the one after defeating Sarevok.
I would like to add my additional question: So, it does not matter which save I import (whether it is begnning or end of the game or beginning or the end of siege of dragonspear, or save from any other time)? It won't affect the story at all and the only things that matter are the Gorion's ward's stats and some of the inventory contents? Thank you.

That is right. Whether you're importing a character file or a save, you're only importing the main character and nothing more. Also, the starting level of party members in BG2 is affected by the level of the main character when you find them. So starting the game with high XP can give you an edge during early game, especially if your main is a thief, because thief levels up fast. Anomen may have access to level 6 spells as soon as you find him and that can make early game fights much easier...
Regarding Black Pits, if you're the kind of player who likes to play content chronologically, the timeline of the BG campaigns is as follows:

1. The events of Black Pits I takes place shortly before the start of BG1
2. Events of BG1 unfold
3. Events of SoD unfold
4. Events of BG2 unfold
5. Events of Black Pits 2 takes place roughly somewhere after the events of ToB begin, but conclude before ToB ends.
I have imported my characters from the beaten Black Pits section to the main game but I am not gaining experience is this normal?
if you imported into BG1 then yes its normal... you start BG1 with no experence

If you have gone through Black Pits then maybe your character is already at the XP cap, which I believe is 500k. If so, that character won't be able to gain any more XP.
