I'm trying to solo a Kensai/Mage through BG1. (It is much harder than BG2)
Taking the Kensai up to level 9 was not a problem, but once I dualled, I found my mage could not wear mage robes (unlike in BG2) Tutu seems to consider them armor.
I was expecting the rules to be the same.
Also you spend a lot more time as a weak mage in BG1.
My Mage only just reached level 8 when I got to Baldur's Gate.
Hope I can get to level 10 & get my longswords back before the end.
Probably should have Dualled at level 6.

There's only some 1,5 miliion xp to be had in BG1, so you'll only manage that if you're playing with 3 characters, explore the whole game and have removed the level-cap (the last thing you already did if you got to Kensai 9).

I don't know about the mage robes, I haven't played a Kensai yet myself.

I finished that game with my mage at level 11
I was playing solo, so there was plenty more XP to be had.

The mod to romance Shar-Teel (you have to play evil but it's worth it.) is BG1NPC for Tutu or BGT.
