Hello everyone! I played BG II a while back and am looking to get it again. I just discovered this site and my am I impressed! There are some fears I have, however. I see so many people saying they have windows 7 (I have windows 7 laptop) and that they are having plethora of problems. In all honest, is this worth downloading from GOG or should I look for another game to download? Is it unlikely that I will be able to run it?

Thank you all!
I have windows 7 on a laptop and this game works fine for me. Definitely worth it.

I can't answer your question directly as I'm running Vista on a crappy laptop.

What I can say is that I've done 7 installs from GOG, including Baldur's Gate. Each one has installed and played perfectly. (and no, I'm not associated with them in any way) And BG1 is one of those MUST PLAY BEFORE YOU DIE! games.

It looks like the occasional Win7 glitches have work-arounds

My rig has Win7 Pro 64 bit and I've played/am playing BG1 and 2 both vanilla and modded with no issues.
Baldur's Gate 1 works on windows 7 64-bit but without mods it won't display at higher resolutions. My screen's native resolution is 1920x1080 for example. With mods you can get it to display correctly at native resolution but the widescreen UI mod, which fixes the UI for higher resolutions, only goes up to 1280x800 I believe. So I play Baldur's Gate at 1280x800 in a window and it works fine. It is playable at 1920x1080 but the UI at that resolution a bit wonky. Nothing game breaking though.

Icewind Dale 1 works better and runs great for me at 1920x1080. I haven't purchased BG2 or IWD2 (yet) but I hear they run even better.
