Alright, so I have no idea what is going on here. I just beat Baldur's Gate and exported my character so I can import him into BG2, but when I open the import option in the BG2 character creation menu, I cannot find him. I even looked in the characters folder of BG1 and he is not there; however, when I play BG1 and import a character, sure enough, he is available in the menu of characters. I even did a hard drive search for the character file, but it isn't anywhere. How is this possible? How can I fix this?

It’s possible they are not stored in their regular folder, but in a hidden folder. This thread has some location others have found the files; you may have to move them from there.

Likely under <username>\Appdata\Local\VirtualStore\GOG.com\ or something similar.
