Just started playing and i love the game. thing is, that the play area doesn't fill the entire screen on my mac. the obvious reason is of course the low resolution but i know its possible to "stretch" the game display. what can i do to solve this?

btw: is the gog version the enhanced edition? i find the graphics very poor.

If you are using the original version, you'll need to patch it. Look at the sticky threads in the forum for instructions.

GOG sells both version. The one called "Baldur's Gate: The Original Saga " is the non-enhanced edition, and the other is called " Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition " is the enhanced edition. The enhanced edition is slightly more expensive.
Some graphic mods gog added, are responsible for this. They are integrated in installation of the game. Another thread, older one, which was also a question, if memory serves, answered to that. Sorry, do not remember anything more.

There are two ways to handle this. One is you can go into your graphics control panel and change the scaling options, Though this will stretch and distort the image somewhat (depending on your monitor's native resolution and aspect ratio). The other way is to install the widescreen mod and set the resolution to something with the same aspect ratio as your monitor (for example 1280x720). I don't recall if BG1 requires a UI fix mod with the widescreen mod or not, but check the stickied modding threads for more information. You may also want to install a bigger font mod with the widescreen mod as the text does not scale with the resolution change.
